Valley Girl in the Big City!!!

Feeling: fantastic
Dear Diary, I'm writing this from New Jersey! We're at the family's home my sister nannies for. The kids are cute (but not as cute as my nieces and nephew!). New York City!!! I have two words: CULTURE SHOCK. lol. Can you imagine small-town Lisa in downtown New York? Walking down 7th Avenue through Times Square, riding the Subway, trying not to get run over by taxis. It's crazy! I love it!!! It's like a whole different universe here, and it's really fun. Sadness: We aren't going to a Broadway show. It'd just be too hard to fit into our schedule/budget. But that's okay. I'm having tons of fun anyway. New Jersey is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. There are like, 5 TRILLION trees here, and everything is green, green, green. So pretty! I can't say that about NYC, though, lol. Actually, we went on the Staton Island Ferry last night and saw the sun going down over the harbor; it was so breathtaking to see everything lit up in sunset-orange--the tall buildings, the Statue of Liberty... And then we saw the New York skyline all lit up in the dark... IT WAS SO AMAZING!!! As for the actual city, it's cool to walk down the sidewalks next to huge buildings and see all the lights and people and famous places. But other than that, it's dirty and cold (it's been raining most of the time) and a little bit scary. There are some WEIRD people in NY!!! lol. In fact, the first morning we were there, Sarah and I were standing around waiting for Anna. We were in Port Authority, which is like this gargantuan bus depoe. Anyway, so Sarah and I were talking when this old old old, scruffy-looking man walks past us. And then he softly says to us, "Arooga! Arooga!" and keeps walking!!! Sarah and I looked at each other, and then burst out laughing. It was SO hilarious. This has nothing to do with anything, but I've been thinking about this, so I'll say it anyway. I've kinda been thinking that I'm over Jeremy, but then in the past two or three weeks all of a sudden I can't stop thinking about him! It's really strange... Hmm. Whatever! Anyway... I can't think of anything else to say... Umm... Tomorrow we're going into NYC specifically to shop. I'm excited!!! We're going to Chinatown and Canal Street, and I'm gonna spend as much money as possible!!! lol. Fun fun. Then we'll go home tomorrow night. It's a five hour red-eye flight--not fun! I might take a sleeping pill just so I don't have to be up all that time. Yuck. I don't really want to go home, but I am missing my nieces and nephew like crazy. I bet Nathan is so big now! I can't wait to see him smile at me again. I love those kids!!! Well, I should probably go. My sisters and I are going to go do some grocery shopping and then see a movie and go out to eat. Funness. Have a great day everyone! Love, Lisa Ann
