Listening to: A Sexy Alto - O Thou That Tellest Good Tidings To Zion
Feeling: cheery
Today was fun.
I went to work at 7:00am. It was very fun because Ms. Karen and Ms. Maryellen were there and they are both great. I was able to get some stuff off my chest that was bothering me about the work situation. They feel the same about Angela as I do, and we both feel like Ms. Pam is getting hung out to dry. I've been thinking about work a bit lately. I was trying to think about who has been the most helpful in making this first semester with the kids a successful one, and who I've benefitted the most from working with.
Jackie has definitely been the most helpful. She has given me constant advice and guidance in dealing with the kids. She's made me feel better after I've screwed something up. I don't know how well I would've survived the semester without her there. I really am bummed that she's leaving at the end of the month.
Ms. Maryellen has been helpful in making light of the situations I've been in. She's been the one who has helped me leave with a smile instead of a frown at the end of the day. I think as long as she stays, I can make it. The same applies to Ms. Karen.
Ms. Alison and Marilyn have been the best at giving me constructive criticism on things that I need to hear in ways that I need to hear it. Whereas Jackie kind of tries to soften the blow, they give it to me straight like it needs to be given. And I don't think it would've been the same without Ms. Pam, and I just hate that things are not as successful for her.
So that's work. We also had the church staff lunch today, which is always fun. I got to see baby Aiden, but he slept the whole time.
I went home, and then went back to work to pick up my paycheck, talked to Jackie, got gas, went home, and then soon went to Barnes & Noble to have our gift exchange.
From Michael, I got a manicure kit. Whatever. From Joy and Kim, I got a bag of snickerdoodle coffee and a gift card for Barnes & Noble, which we used to buy Michael Feldman's Whaddaya Know. It's this hilarious, BS trivia game. We played twice, and Kim won once, and I won once. It's such a fun game whether you're playing or hosting. It's hard to not react to the questions because some of them are just so dang weird.
So it's Christmas Eve Eve, and I have to say that I am definitely in the Christmas spirit now. It's been slow in coming, but I am finally completely there. Everything's in place--my shopping is done and there's no drama. I'm good beyond that.
Tomorrow, I will not do much. I hope to see Robbie, and then I will have church at 5:30. We will go to Ms. Leigh's mother's house for Christmas Eve dinner and caroling. They are good friends of the family and this is just something we've done as tradition for a few years. After that, we'll come home and open presents, and watch the Ebenezer Lutheran Church service. The Mormons don't come on this year, which makes me sad, but instead we will watch some other Christmas special.
Then on Christmas morning, we have more gifts, followed by lunch at Louise's. Yes.
Excitement. Yes.
um, what?
