Unaffected-Chapter 11

Listening to: Whisper-Evanescence
Feeling: abandoned

The rain filled the room with soft music and the thunder echoed in the distance. His eyes opened and the sensation kicked in. He looked out the window and only found the night looking back at him. With a deep breath, he looked down at her and images immediately increased the pounding in his head. The pounding knotted his stomach and he slid out of the bed and onto his knees.

When the sensation became more dominant, he quickly got to his feet and looked around the room. Then he stepped into the hall and quietly checked each room. The floor moved and suddenly split open. He grabbed the edge of the floor and looked down at the waves.

'What the hell?'

The sensation increased and twisted his stomach into a small ball. He pulled himself up onto the floor and fought to get his breath. Then the door opened in front of him and the bullet ripped through his chest.

----------------------------------------------

He winced and bolted up in bed with his blood racing and sweat coating his back. His head was racing with the images and he held it as the pain ripped through his body. The door opened and he quickly looked up. His eyes were almost unusable with the pain, but he did see her approaching him.

She was next to him and said, "Lie back down."

He didn't move and he heard, "You don't willing and I'll make you."

Slowly he rested on his back and she ran a cloth over a wound on his chest. He couldn't remember how it got there or who had pulled the trigger. The cloth ran over his neck and he snatched her wrist.

She didn't move and he heard, "I'm just cleaning the wounds. Don't break my wrist."

He let her go and she sat next to him. The room slowly started to come into the clear and he found her watching him. She looked like she had lacked at least two weeks of sleep and the shadows in her eyes were so dark that he knew something had happened.

She smirked and said, "Don't worry about me. I snuck in a few hours of sleep here and there."

His eyes narrowed slightly and he growled, "Stay out of my mind."

She shook her hair, the hair he remembered perfectly, and said, "I have to know if you're hurting and you're too stubborn to tell me."

He looked away from her and said, "Just leave."

She took a deep breath and said, "Adam, you have a job and I can help you."

He remained looking away and said, "No."

She ran a hand through her hair and said, "I know why you're like this. It just happened. It's not like it was intentional."

He closed his eyes and growled, "Leave me alone, Sheila."
