Anywhere...#19

Feeling: undecided

The club pounded with the music and the bar was crammed. She handed a man his order and let out a sigh. Her neck ached and her back was killing her. One more hour left on her shift and it felt like eternity. She closed her eyes and leaned against the back counter.

Alan looked at her and she said, "Don't worry. I'll live."

He grunted and put a hand on her shoulder. She looked up at him and he shook his head.

"Go rest in the back."

Nodding, she put her rag down and moved to the back room. Her eyes found her favorite chair and she dropped down into it. She let out a sigh and closed her eyes.

The crowd screamed and he watched Tim bow again. His eyes caught signs with hearts to him and he saluted the crowd. Girls screamed at him and he shook his head. Silently he moved offstage and into their bus. Sitting in the back room, he turned on his cell phone and pressed one on his speed dial.

He listened for the phone to pick up and sighed. Five rings past and she hadn't picked up. His eyes narrowed and he glanced at the calendar across the room. One more week and he would be back in the states. He had to hear from her.

Unlocking the door, she stumbled inside and locked the door behind her. Yawning, she moved back to her bedroom and dropped her jacket into a chair. Silently she moved over to her closet and slipped out of her clothes. She pulled on a pair of running shorts and a black spaghetti strap tank. She glanced in the mirror across the room and pulled her hair free from its confines.

Sitting down on her bed, she turned on her cell phone and found zero messages. Her stomach tightened again and she sighed. Leaning back, she curled up in the middle of the bed and placed her cell phone next to her.

'Jesse...where are you?'

The plane landed and taxied down. The lights went on and he got to his feet. Grabbing his bag, he moved down the aisle to the exit.

"Hey Jesse, whatcha doing tonight?"

He looked at Tim and said, "Nothing."

Greg looked up and asked, "What about your lady?"

His eyes narrowed and Tim said, "Can't get a hold of the fox."

The guys whistled and he said, "How about I show you boys around tonight."

They all nodded and filed off the plane. Stepping out into the darkness, he felt a chill run through him and sighed. They approached the awaiting car and got in. It drove them from the airport and headed downtown.

'Faith...'

Her eyes burned and she leaned back in her chair, rubbing the bridge of her nose. Slowly she ran her hand along her neck and loosened the tightened muscles. Her eyes glanced at the clock and she frowned. So much work was due tomorrow and she sighed. A knock on her door caught her attention and she looked up.

Bryan held up a white bag and she nodded for him to come in. He put it on her desk and looked at the work she had completely.

"You still amaze me. You're almost done."

"Far from it. I've only got the first draft done."

He chuckled and said, "Don't tell me you forgot the meeting isn't until next week."

Her eyes widened and she asked, "What?!"

He smirked and said, "I thought so. You can go home. Take this with you and eat it on the way to keep you awake."

She frowned and turned off her computer. Getting to her feet, she grabbed her jacket and picked up the bag. He nodded to her and she stepped into the hall.

She stepped into her room and dropped her jacket on the floor. Kicking her shoes off, she pulled her shirt off and put on her tank. Removing her jeans, she placed them and her shirt in the basket in the closet and slid on her shorts. Sitting on her bed, she turned on her cell phone and checked for voice mail.
