Anywhere...#10

Opening his eyes, he took a deep breath and glanced around the room. Something seemed off and he looked down beside him. The spot was empty and made up. Frowning he sat up and looked at the clock next to him. It was nine in the morning and he cursed as he threw off the covers.

Quickly he moved around the room getting changed and slammed the door behind him. As he rushed downstairs, he glanced into the kitchen and found it empty as well. His eyes blazed as he moved to the door and found it unlocked. He pulled it open and stepped outside to find the neighborhood up and about. Wiping his neck, he took a deep breath and looked down the road towards the park.

'She has to be there.'

Silently he got into his car and started the engine. Pulling out into the road, he looked in his mirror and spotted a black jeep parked on the opposite side of the street with a perfect view of the place. He popped open the glove box as he drove down the street and pulled out his 45 mm. Keeping it rested next to him, he drove to the park and pulled over to the curb. Slowly he got out of his car and locked the door as he made his way into the park.

His eyes scanned every body he caught sight of and yet his search was in vane. Growling, he moved to the center of the park and stopped at the town fountain. Sitting on the edge, he let out a sigh and closed his eyes as he massaged his temples. Everything had happened so fast that his mind seemed like it was a month late in processing everything.

'What am I going to do?'

Quietly she watched the screen and studied the schedule. Every bus was operating on time and she prayed hers would arrive soon. She glanced down the street and frowned slightly as her thoughts began to roll.

'It was what I wanted. Why don't I want to stay?'

Growling, she shoved her confusion away and focused on her plans. She had to finish school and the college she was admitted into was waiting for her to arrive in a week. Nodding inside, she swallowed her fear and forced herself to remain strong. Jess would become someone close to her in the past. She couldn't stay with someone that couldn't express their emotions in order to keep her safe.

An engine interrupted her thoughts and she glanced down the road again to see her bus pulling up. Taking a deep breath, she picked up her sport bag and walked to the platform. She stood behind ten people waiting to board and sighed as the bus unloaded three times them.

The phone rang and he picked it up without a second thought.

"Jess."

"She's at the bus station. I'd hurry up if I were you."

He hung up without a word and bolted out the door. Jumping into the car, he raced to the bus station. Five minutes felt like an eternity and he ran into the terminal. His eyes glanced at the schedule and he let out a relief. Quickly he moved out onto the platform and stopped in his tracks.

"Faith!"

Taking a deep breath, she fought to keep her anger in check and clenched her fists. The line hadn't even started to move and she was getting impatient.

"Faith!"

Her head snapped to the left and she froze. Her eyes had to be playing tricks on her. She hadn't told him where she was. She had left him sleeping in bed, hoping he wouldn't find her and stop her. She shook her head and returned her attention to the people in front of her.

"Excuse me. Please, I only need five minutes."

He grabbed her shoulder and spun her around. She swallowed hard and forced herself to keep quiet in order to keep control.

His eyes were blazing and he asked, "What are you doing?"

Glancing away, she said, "I'm leaving."

He shook his head and said, "You can't."

Her eyes flashed and she said, "I have to. You want me to."

The line moved and she pulled away from him as she stepped closer to the bus. His eyes were killing her and she turned to the front. Swallowing the lump in her throat, she wiped the hidden tears away and remained firm in her decision.

'I'm sorry, Jess.'
