Vincent and the monk follow me as I guide them through the hills leading towards the massive mounting range where Cervantes' skull mountain lair is.
I hear grumbling beyond a hill in front of us, and I pull my katana from it's sheath. The monk pulls a wooden staff from where it was strapped to his back, and Vincent pulls his three barreled handgun from the holster on his back.
I walk over the hilltop to see a massive troll looking beast roaming around at the bottom.
"We can take him." I say.
"Sure can." Vincent says cockily as he loads his gun.
I frown at him and look at the monk, who still had half his face shrouded by the hood of his robe.
"You go up behind it and distract it, and I'll take it head on." I say, looking from the monk to Vincent.
They both nod and run around behind the beast.
Vincent lines up a shot and fires it, hitting the beast in the spine.
With a yell, I run at it as fast as I can at the beast, but he turns his attention to Vincent and the Monk.
"Way to go Vincent, you cocky moron." I say silently to myself.
The beast rips a nearby tree from the ground, roots and all, and swings it at Vincent.
The tree hits him right in the gut, sending him flying backwards into a large boulder sitting nearby.
The monk throws his staff like a spear and nails the beast in the eye. I slash my katana across the back of it's knees. It starts falling backwards towards me, and I jump out of the way.
It lands hard on the ground, and I jump up onto it's neck, choking it out. I pull the monk's staff from it's eye socket and toss it to him. He catches it in one hand.
I turn my attetntion back to the troll beast thing and it backhands me off its neck. I slam into the ground far off, as the thing grits its teeth and stands up.
It picks up its tree again and swings it down at the monk. He dodges that attack and readies for combat.
I manage to get to my feet and grip my katana tightly. I run towards the beast as fast as I can as it continues to swing its tree at the monk.
The monk coninues to dodge the attacks as I close in.
In the corner of my eye, I see Vincent stir and stagger to his feet. He finds his gun on the ground and starts firing shots at the beast again.
Several bullets slam into the beast's leg, it's black blood spurting and flowing from the wounds.
The beast turns towards Vincent and starts running at him as fast as it can.
Vincent puts his gun into its holster and starts running from the beast as fast as it can.
The beast catches up to him and whips his tree into Vincent's back. Several of the roots tear into Vincent's spine, ripping huge bloody gashes through him. The tree keeps going and slams Vincent's broken and bloody body into a massive boulder, like the one he hit before.
I hear a dull snap and I cringe. There was no way he would live through something like that.
The monk and I stand there. The monk moves first. He throws his staff like a spear again at the beast, this time hitting its other eye.
The beast howls in pain as it drops to its knees.
I run at it and jump towards it when I get close to it. I spin around in midair and cut its head from its shoulders.
Its black blood flows down its body as it drops to the ground.
I walk away from the headless corpse, to where Vincent's dead body is still pinned against the boulder by the tree. I pick up his triple barreled handgun, look at it, and then look up at him.
The monk straps his staff to his back and stands solemnly, saying a prayer for Vincent.
I find the tattered remains of the holster for Vincent's handgun on the ground, and I lash it to my belt. I put the handgun in it and look back up at Vincent's body.
"I will finish the quest we have begun my friend." I say silently, before the sky darkens and a heavy rain starts.
The monk and I turn and leave after a while, as the rain washes Vincent's blood down the rock and into the ground.
