I sit on the side of a road in the darkness. It has been several years after my adventure with Kendrick and Lestat, neither of which I had seen since. I run a hand over my unshaven chin and shake my shaggy hair around as I try to ignore my thirst for blood. It had been several days since I had seen civilization, and my thirst was immense.
I hear footsteps coming along the road towards me, and my eyes dart towards the sound. I see several villagers carrying a cart behind them walking along, and one of them flashes me a quick smile before he keeps walking.
I smile and stand. I follow them for a while then quench my thirst. I wipe the blood from my mouth afterwards and walk away from their corpses.
I walk through a dense forested area nearby and emerge in the grove, which was the meeting place of the order I lead. Only it had been a very long time since I had seen or heard anything about my order.
I walk through, and it looked like the aftermath of a massive battle. Swords, shields, spears, and bodies lay everywhere on the field. I continue walking, and see my former second in command, lying half dead on the ground.
"Marius!" He exclaims as he sees me approach. I run to his side and kneel beside him.
"What happened?" I ask, worried about his well-being.
"They attacked, left no one alive!" He says, grabbing my arm tightly as he said it.
"Who attacked? What happened?" I ask, but he keeps muttering nonsense.
I sit in silence until he stops muttering.
"Now, who attacked?" I ask patiently.
"The guards of the city. Led by your former love! They amassed a huge army, and came down here. They wiped us out!" He says.
"What?" I ask.
"Yes...they came looking for you! And when they didn’t find you, they questioned us, and when we refused to tell them, they rampaged us down and killed us all!" he says, his strength slowly waning.
"They were hunting for me..." I say silently. He nods several times, and then coughs up blood. He places his arm over the slash on his gut and winces.
"Kill me now." He says.
I look him deep in the eyes, and then sink my fangs into his neck. I suck the life force from him, and he dies peacefully.
I stand and walk over the battlefield. There are slain bodies of my former colleagues everywhere, and the ground had been bled red.
"They did this to find me?" I ask myself.
I hear a chuckle, and several of the very guards my former second in command described emerged from the forest and looked right at me.
"Ready to die?" they ask.
"Are you ready to die?" I ask.
They laugh and pull long bladed swords from their belts. They smirk and ready for combat. I pull my katana from its sheath and charge at them.
Fueled by anger, I lash out at one of the guards. He manages to block a few of my attacks, but I became quicker, faster. He failed to block a lethal blow to the neck, and his head fell off and rolled to the ground behind him. Blood spurted and flowed from the wound as his headless corpse fell forward into the ground.
The second guard lashes out at me, but I block his attack with my katana and hold his blade into the air. I pull Vincent’s triple barreled handgun from its sheath and shot him in the leg. He lets go of his sword and grips his leg as he falls in pain.
"I want you to get your lard ass back to whoever sent you with this message: You killed my friends, you have relentlessly hunted me for years. I’m going to return the favour. Not vengeance. Punishment." I say, with an evil smile rising to my face.
The guard looks like he just crapped himself, and then he turns and limps off in the direction he came.
Punishment has come.
