Dreamland VIII - #1

During the year following my mission against the Black Shadow, nothing serious happened whatsoever. I led some smaller missions against some small criminal groups in the area, and Luke did the same. Quexos even led his own mission against a larger group of criminals about halfway through the year, which lasted almost a month. Once he arrived at their location and began the mission, he found out they were actually a group of terrorists who had aquired some explosion weaponry and were planning to use it against the rulers of the country. His mission was a success, and he confiscated the explosives and brought them back to The Order's base in order to keep them hidden. Luke also met another group of terrorists in the land, whom he put down as well with his group of knights. Upon finishing his mission he discovered the same type of explosive weaponry, so he brought it back to the base as well. I noticed a trend among the criminals. They went less and less for crime, and began aquiring these explosives and plotting against people high in the local government. But we all led several missions against the criminals, who were operating out of several older castles around Dreamland, and all the missions were successful in putting the criminals down. The Black Shadow even tried to revive itself under a new leader not known to us, so I led a mission against the fledgling crime syndicate, and used some of their explosive wepaonry against them. After infiltrating their base, I apprehended everyone, returned the stolen merchandise to the people it was stolen from and showed them who they were messing with by blowing their base off the surface of the earth with our confiscated explosives. But the year went through a lull, and the knights began to quarrel amongst themselves as to the position The Order should have in the land. This created somewhat of a division amongst the knights. Some believe that The Order should be left as it is, which was a organization not known to many people who combatted the evil in the land in hopes to make it better for everyone. Others believe that The Order should become known to the government, so that The Order isn't pursued by the government's agents in order to stop them. The knights that believed that The Order should remain anonymous refused to let the government control their actions, which they believed was exactly where the other knight's line of thinking was taking them. Luke tried to quell the conflict, but he believed that The Order should remain anonymous as well, so the knights who believed in making themselves known to the government thought that Luke was joining them, so they all left The Order. That was right at the end of the year, and I was furious at this. Our numbers had grown to two hundred knights before then, and a hundred left that night, and were planning to go to the government and make themselves known and take on more high profile missions for them. But on the night after they left, Luke and Kathleen approached me as I sat alone in my room. "What's wrong?" Kathleen asked me as she sat down beside me. She draped her arm over my shoulder and looked at me with a concerned look on her face. "The Order which Luke and I created has now split in two." I said, looking at her. She kissed me on the cheek, and I smiled at her. I stood and placed my sword in its sheath, and put it on my belt, which was firmly at my waist. "Where are you going?" Kathleen asked. I looked down at her and layed my hands on her shoulders. I looked her deep in the eyes. "I have worked hard for years to build The Order, and I won't have some disagreement split it in two." I said. "I should go with you." Luke said. I stood up straight and shook my head. "I'm sorry friend. They already know your position on the whole matter, so having you show up might never bring them back." I said, looking at him. I quickly turned my head back to Kathleen, who looked up at me. Luke nodded slowly. "I suppose you're right." he said. I held Kathleen's hand and together we walked out into the dark mountain range surrounding The Order's base. "If you wish to come with me I won't stop you." I said to her. She looked up at me with eyes full of happiness. She ran back, put on her uniform, grabbed her sword and came out to meet me when she had finished, and together we went to ment this wound The Order had suffered.
