Dreamland IX - #3

I awoke after what seemed like years in a small dark cell. I couldn't tell how tall the room was, but the cell itself was no more across than I was tall. There was a small matress behind me, a small wooden table in front of me in the corner of the room, and on the oppotisde side of the room of the table was a thick metal door. I walked towards the door, which had a small barred window level with my face in it. I looked out into the dark corridor beyond and saw several guards patrolling the halls. There were cells similar to mine all up and down the hall, so I figured I was in some kind of prison facility. "Where am I?" I barked at one of the guards, and he flinched as he walked past my cell. He slammed the butt of his spear against the door of my cell. "Quiet!" He shouted. I grabbed the bars of my door's window and ripped them from the frame, and the guard fell backwards in fear as I shouted in anger at him. I heard a monstrous laughter from the cell he almost fell into, and the guard stood up and ran from the corridor. "Nice show, vampire." the voice who laughed at the guard spoke. I looked at the cell's door, and saw that the bars in the door window had also been ripped out on that door as well. "Who are you?" I asked the figure. "Someone these people hate very much." the voice replied. The figure inside walked to the window and looked out at me, and I did the same. He had long black hair, bright red eyes and a very pale complexion. I could tell right away he wasn't from this area of Dreamland, which might be why the Black Shadow didn't like him very much. "What are you?" I asked. He chuckled. "An vampiric Elf." he replied. I was shocked. According to the myth surrounding the creation of Dreamland, the world was created over time by a supreme being, and the supreme being placed the first life forms on the planet: the sophisticated Elves. The Elves ruled Dreamland for many, many years, until mankind also appeared on the planet, the supreme being's will. The Elves slowly became the less dominant species, until it was thought that they were extinct, and mankind became the dominant race on the planet. These events all took place thousands of years before I was born, but the fact that a vampiriv Elf was here in a cell gave rise to the truth of the myths. "I thought Elves were extinct." I said. I hated sounding rude, but I had now idea what an Elf was like or how to treat one. "I get that a lot. I've been around this Dreamland for many, many years because Elves live much longer than humans. I was bitten by one of this land's first vampires, and became one myself, which gave me unlimited life and unlimited power. This pitiful Black Shadow thought it was amazing that I was one of the five or so Elves left on this rock, so they employed the same strategy they used to get you here to me, and I've been a prisoner since." the Elf explained. "What's your name?" I asked. "Athran." Athran replied. I nodded. "Marius." I replied. Athran laughed. "The great Marius eh? Never thought I'd see such a powerful vampire stuck in this hole." Athran replied. "You know of me?" I asked. "Of course. During the Great War of Dreamland, I served under you as an archer for your army, and during the last battle as an archer/foot soldier. Since I was captured I still hear of your exploits, and I heard that you won the Vampire/Human War almost single-handedly." Athran said with a note of respect in his voice. "Well, not exactly single-handedly. I accomplished victory with my vampiric troops and my friends, and then went on to form The Order." I said. "You formed the mysterious Order?" Athran asked. "Yes. Me and my companion were on a mission here when we were compromised and tossed into these cells." I replied. "I've been wondering about that Order. I've heard about it and wanted to join it for a long time, but I never knew where its base was." Athran replied. "We keep its location secret." I replied, and Athran nodded. We talked for hours that night, and soon Athran, Quexos and I had one single mind set: We had to escape from this place.
