Dreamland IX - #6

We scoured the fortress for hours looking for our weapons. We managed to find a weapons locker, which we used to arm the human prisoners who were imprisoned with us. They responded well to having Vampiric leaders, and we respected them for that. Athran, Quexos and I had a thirst for blood, but we decided not to take it from our human companions. I kept the sword I stole from the soldier I had killed earlier, and put it through my belt to keep it in place as Quexos and I planned the phase of our plan in which we destroyed the Black Shadow and utterly destroyed the fortress. "We still have to find our weapons." Quexos pointed out. I nodded slowly. "Once we do, we'll crush all resistance. They've been stockpiling explosives here, so we'll use some of that to blow this place off the map." I said. Quexos nodded in agreement, and we set out afterwards, scouring the fortress once again to find our weapons. Athran stumbled upon a equipment locker on one of his patrols throughout the fortress, and when he returned, he returned with my black bladed sword and with Quexos' crimson bladed sword. "Are these yours?" He asked. I answered yes and took the steel blade from my belt, and attached the sheath of my black bladed sword to it. I put the sword into the sheath and clenched my fists. "Did you find the explosives?" I asked Athran. Athran picked up the steel sword I dropped and put it through his own belt. "No. But I did find a way into Tryannus' chambers." Athran said. He explained a detailed way of getting there, but said it was also guarded by a garrison of one hundred men. All of them were now armed to the teeth in light of the recent violence involving the guards and the prisoners, and I knew it would be tought to rout them all out. "We've only got twenty five prisoners, only a quarter of their total amount of men." Quexos pointed out. I nodded slowly. "What're they armed with?" I asked Athran. "Swords, spears, shields, bows and arrows, even a few crossbows." Athran explained. I nodded again. "Alright. Take whatever wood we used for the battering ram and we'll make it into a rough shield wall. That'll protect us from the arrows, and us three vampires will go ahead and remove the archers. Once we've removed the archers, have out men take the bows, arrows and crossbows and shoot them all down. Fight them hand to hand only if we have to. Then we'll batter down Tyrannus' door, kill his personal guard and slay him as well." I said. Quexos nodded. Athran nodded as well, as did our group of men. They started building the shield wall at once, and day was upon us. Athran, Quexos and I slept in our old cells while the construction of the wall took place, and when we awoke that evening, the wall was finished. "Alright men, stick to the plan." I ordered, and they nodded. Athran, Quexos and I took up positions along the front of the wall as the men pushed it from behind, and we marched towards Tyrannus' chambers. We marched through the dimly lit corridors until we reached it, and the garrison of a hundred men had prepared themselves as well, but not for the extent of our plan. They had arranged themselves into a shield wall, with the spears and shields up front, and the archers just behind them. The infantry was huddled together behind the shield wall, and they looked ready for a fight. "They're expecting a good fight." Athran said. I smirked. "Then lets give them one." I said, and Athran, Quexos and I charged forward towards their lines, with the shield wall behind us.
