Dreamland IX - #7

As I drew near to their shield wall, I brought my black bladed sword high into the air. Putting as much strength as I could into the swing, I brought the sword crashing down upon a soldier's shield, and it splintered underneath my blade. The soldier's hands were numbed by the impact, and he cried out as he flopped backwards. I stabbed down at him with my sword, killing him abruptly. An arrow struck my in the left portion of my chest, and embedded itself in my flesh. I looked at the archer and smirked, and he paled. I shouted in anger as I charged at him, and beheaded him with a quick blow of my sword, spattering blood over the soldiers around him. I looked over at Athran and Quexos, who were fighting off spear wielding soldiers and battering their way through the soldier's weak shield wall. Our shield wall was growing closer, so I focused my attacks more on the archers. They were easy to destroy. They wore thin leather armour, which gave them more mobility than their infantry counterparts, but it made them useless in a melee. I battered down most of the archers, and soldiers from my group of men quickly darted out and grabbed the fallen archers' equipment. They quickly darted behind the shield wall that was still advancing and started pelting the ranks of Tyrannus' soldiers with arrows. They dropped quickly, with arrows in their head, chest or gut. I grabbed a soldier by the shoulder when I pushed through their shield wall and sunk my fangs into his neck, relieving my thirst for blood. I wiped blood from my face and hacked down another soldier with my black bladed sword. The blade passed through the soldier's armour with ease, and sent bright red blood bursting into the air. When I finished, I counted the remainder of Tyrannus' men, and there were fifteen our of a hundred left, so my group of twenty five men charged from around the shield wall and killed the remaining fifteen men without any losses. I wiped my blade free of blood with the shirt of a fallen soldier, and put it back into its sheath. I went up to Tyrannus' door and slammed my fist on it as my group of men prepared to charge in. There was no answer. I kicked at the door, and some of the wood cracked around my foot. I booted it again, and the door opened, showing me an empty room. I looked around and saw Tyrannus, dressed in a full suit of steel plate mail, holding his claymore ahead of him with both hands. "I'll see to it you die vampire!" he said, charging at me. He wanted a duel, so I motioned for the men to hold back while I dealt with Tyrannus.
