Dreamland IX - #5

After the brief fight in the corridor, I went around kicking down cell doors and releasing prisoners. When I finished, I met with Quexos and Athran, and we dicussed our plans of escape. "We'll need to move quickly. I'm thinking that Tyrannus has already marshalled a group of soldiers to come down here and kill us." Quexos said. Athran nodded. "I agree. If we move quickly, then we'll take him by surprise and bring down the Black Shadow." I nodded and stood. "Then lets go." I said, and we grabbed all of the wooden beds from the cells. We tied a few of them together with the tattered old bedsheets, and started slamming them against the door. The heavy wooden door rattled, and I heard people falling over on the other side, meaning there were soldiers trying to prevent our escape. We continued slamming the beds against the door, until the wooden door started to crack. A huge shard of wood fell out of the door, creating a huge hole. A spear was thrown through the hole and slammed into the chest of one of the other prisoners behind us. Being a human, the prisoner took the spear to the chest, cried out in pain and dropped backwards to the ground. Another one of the human prisoners booted him out of the way so that more prisoners could support the mashing of the door. "We're almost through!" Athran shouted, and we gave the door a final shove. The center of the doors collapsed inwards, and the door was flung open. There was a loud shout, and fifty armed soldiers came running at us. Quexos, Athran and I were the first ones out of the smashed door, so we knocked down the first three soldiers and took their weapons. I armed myself with the soldier's thin steel blade, and was surprised at its light weight. I stabbed out at the gut of a soldier, and it rammed through his thin leather armour and poked deep into his flesh. He cried out as he dropped backwards, but was replaced by another one. I brought my blade up and crashing down on his neck, and severed his head from his shoulders. He dropped in a bloody mess, and was replaced by yet another soldier. This next one shoved his spear towards my chest, but I batted aside the clumsy attack with the sword. As he tumbled forward, I ripped the spear from his grasp. He fell forward to his stomach, and I twisted it around so its tip was facing the soldier's back. With an angry shout I brought the spear crashing down on the soldier's back. The soldier cried out in pain and lay still. When I was finished the fifty soldiers were dead, and only three of the prisoners had been slain. Athran and Quexos approached me, each holding a bloodied sword. "We're free." Quexos said. I nodded. "Then we'll have to search out the place, crush any resistance, and find our weapons." I said. Athran nodded. "And then use some force to make sure these guys don't come back." he said. I nodded. "Then lets go."
