When the car stopped a block from the restaurant, he hopped out of his seat and closed the door. Star sighed with irritation and drove off as the man made his way to the restaurant. The instant he found the entrance to the restaurant, he entered without a word. The steward stopped him and he demanded to see her. The steward shook his head and continued to work on taking reservations and marking them off.

He sighed and stepped back to leave, but then he stopped. From where he stood, he could see her sitting at the table in the back section of the restaurant. His eyes noticed their laced hands and he felt some vile rise in his throat. Then a waitress reached them and place two plates of dessert in front of him. When he was going to leave, he saw the man hold a bite up to her.

He watched her take it from him and saw a small smile appear on her face as he said something. His entire world cracked and he felt his reality slowly disappear as he saw her smile brighten with each of his words. Then the steward noticed him still standing there and approached him. The man said something, but he couldn't hear a word. When he felt two arms holding him, he looked to his side and found himself being drug out of the restaurant.

She stood near the exit and listened to the steward and him talk for a few minutes as he paid for the meal. When they finished their little chat, he turned to her and they left the restaurant. The rain hadn't stopped its downpour, but she really didn't feel like going home just yet. The dinner had been nice and she had enjoyed it actually. His jacket was placed on her shoulders and she looked at him to find him watching her and waiting for their next destination.

When she didn't have anything to say he asked "Want to go bowl?"

She shook her head and said "You wouldn't catch me bowling in a dress."

He sighed and said "Too bad. The guys would enjoy watching you."�

With a roll of her eyes she said, "I bet they would."

He chuckled and said "Well, I can take you home if you're ready."�

The thought of going home made her easy mood slip away and she said "I don't think so. I don't think I can go home just yet. Besides, I told Star I'd be home late."

His eyebrow went up instantly and he asked "Did you now? Why is that so?"

She shrugged and said "I figured after dinner, you would want to head home for the night and I would just go for a walk."

He chuckled and said "You still don't want me around."

With a sigh she mumbled "It's not that. It's actually the exact opposite, but it just makes me feel so uneasy knowing the fact that you are around again."

His hand lifted her chin up and he said "I told you already, I'm not going to hurt you again."

She nodded and said "I know and I didn't forget. It's just that was when I was needing to hear that cause of Jared. Now when you say that it feels like it doesn't mean a thing."

He rolled his eyes and asked "What will it take to prove I mean it?"

Her eyes looked down the road and she said "Take me one place and maybe I might start to believe it."

Her tone was full of trickery and he said "One place that can convince you into believe me. I wonder."

She smiled and said "It isn't that hard to figure out."

He looked down the road and said "I see. Let's get going if we want to beat the crowd."�

His hand found hers and she asked "Are we going to just walk or what?"

He shook his head and said "Have faith, will you? We are going in my car. You think I'm going to make you walk in the rain?"

She rolled her eyes and said "Fine. Lead the way."

They walked to his car and as they drove off to their destination, he stepped out of the alley. He watched the taillights disappear and then he sighed. Not once had he seen her smile so beautifully, but seeing that man cause it made him burn. He sighed with reluctance and he called Star to come pick him up. When he put his phone away, he closed his eyes and leaned back against the wall.
