Anywhere...#21

Feeling: torn

He ran his hand through his hair and sat down on the couch. His mind was spinning and he hung his head. The pain ripped at his chest and he closed his eyes. He couldn't face her. She was torn up because of him. Taking a deep breath, he moved down the hall and stopped outside her bedroom.

"Faith."

She looked up and wiped her face dry just before the door opened. She took a deep breath and looked up. He was shaken to the core and she just wanted to disappear. His life was going great and she had derailed the train. He swallowed hard and she got to her feet.

"Faith, I don't know what to say."

She shook her head and said, "Maybe you shouldn't then."

He looked up at her and said, "This is the last thing I wanted."

She nodded with some control kicking in and moved over to her closet. She opened it and pulled out her suitcase.

"What do you think you're doing?"

She kept her back to him and said, "Leaving. You won't need to worry about the kid."

He crossed the room and stopped her. Spinning her around, he gripped her chin and forced her to look him in the eye.

"You promised me you wouldn't run."

She jerked free and said, "That was before I got pregnant. You have a life now. You don't need a kid."

He growled and gripped her shoulders. His entire body was shaking and he took a deep breath.

"I am not ditching you. It was a mistake, but it was our mistake."

She turned back to her closet and said, "I didn't intend on telling you right away."

"What? Do you think I wouldn't have noticed?"

She smirked at his sarcasm and said, "You never called so I didn't think it would've mattered."

"You never picked up. I called every day."

She stopped and looked back at him. His eyes were blazing and she shook her head.

"I checked."

His eyes narrowed and he yanked the cellphone out of her pocket. He flipped it open and scanned the call history. Growling, he threw it onto the bed and gripped her shoulders.

"I called. I don't know what is going on but I called."

She smirked and said, "You don't want this child and I do."

"Why? Why put yourself through it?"

Her eyes softened and she said, "You'll hopefully understand someday. You will have a kid to come claim when you do."

The taxi pulled up to the curb and the driver got out. He picked up her bag and put it into the trunk. She looked at Bryan and he faked a smile. Alan waved and she nodded. Taking a deep breath, she turned back to the taxi and paused.

He stood across the street in the shadows and she fought the urge to run to him. She knew it was best that she left. He didn't understand what the child meant, but she did and knew he wasn't ready. Pulling her gaze away from him, she felt her heart breaking and climbed into the taxi. Bryan closed the door and the taxi pulled away.

'Please hurry Jesse...'
