Listening to: My Best Friend-Tim McGraw
Feeling: tired
"Wake up sleepy head."
Moaning, she rolled away from the tempting voice and burrowed into her pillow. His chuckle wrapped around her in a blanket of warmth and she pulled the bedding over her head.
"You know you have to get up."
"No I don't."
He tugged the bedding down and pulled her onto her back. She looked up at him and his brown eyes held her gaze.
"They'll be in here if you don't move."
She let out a sigh and sat up. He rested an arm on a bent knee and watched her stretch her arms above her. Her spine loosened and she rolled her neck, removing the tension sleep left.
"Do I have to go?"
He nodded and she looked back at him. His hand caught hers and he pulled her down to him.
"They'll kill you if you don't."
"The horror."
Their laughter mixed in the quiet room and the door opened. A weight landed on her back and arms wrapped around her neck.
"Come on! Get up!"
"Nervous?"
Opening her eyes, she looked away from the window and found Grace watching her. She shook her head with a smirk and the woman sat on the edge of her bed.
"You look amazing Eve."
"Thank you."
Grace smiled and she stood up. She walked to her mirror and looked at her reflection. The woman had pulled her hair back, pinning it to her head with some locks hanging down. They had given her the white dress as a gift from the entire town and her fingers ran over the fabric. It wasn't too heavy and was rather simple, something she was very grateful.
A knock interrupted her thoughts and she looked at the door as it opened. Her father entered the room and she couldn't hold back the smile. He looked just as charming as he did in the old wedding pictures of him and her mother. Grace stood up and gave her a hug.
"I'll see you out there."
She nodded and watched the door shut. Taking a deep breath, she looked up at her father and found him smiling. She could see the sadness in his eyes and caught his hand.
"Your mother would be so proud of you."
She nodded but kept her words to herself. The thoughts of her mother dashed the feeling of happiness every time and today she promised herself she wouldn't let that happen. Felic brought her into a big hug and she took a deep breath.
"Thank you for coming."
He smiled and said "I wouldn't miss it."
Smiling, she stepped back and he held out his hand. Placing her hand in his, they walked to the door and stepped into the hall. Her two brothers were waiting with a certain golden dog decked in a bright pink bow. Laughing, she knelt down and untied the ribbon.
"Pink just doesn't suit you."
Tanner barked and she stood up. Alexander nodded to her and she turned to Liam. He offered a smile but she could still see the uncertainty in his eyes. She took his hand and he nodded.
"I know."
"Just be glad you don't have to worry about me anymore."
He smirked and said "I always will."
He released her hand and Felic walked her down the hall. They left the West Wing and descended the stairs. Tanner trotted at her side as they stepped outside into the courtyard and heard the music coming from outside the gates. She stopped walking to catch her breath and Liam rested a hand on her shoulder.
"You know I can get us out of here in a snap. Just say the word."
She smiled and said "I know."
Felic felt her wrap her arm around his and he gave her hand a reassuring squeeze. The music calmed when they stepped into sight and then the bridal chorus started. She felt the brown gaze settle on her as they walked up the hill, passing several rows of filled seats. Felic stood with her in front of the silent man and gave her hand to him. The King walked over to the chair waiting for him and she turned to meet Jonathan's gaze.
A smile didn't cross his face but she saw the look in his eyes and felt his hand squeeze slightly. They turned to the waiting minister and she listened to him speak about the rights of a marriage. The ocean waves filled her ears with music and she looked back at the man on her right. He met her gaze and she felt the acknowledgment from his gaze. He was hearing the same music and it was filling them with the power of the crashing waves against the beach.
They spoke their vows as the world disappeared and the minister place a hand on their joined hands. The rings were exchanged and he smiled.
"Go ahead Jonathan."
The man smirked finally and pulled her to him. The audience clapped and some whistled as they sealed the ceremony with a kiss and fueled the burning storm inside. Stepping back, he looked into her blue eyes and looked at everyone. They moved down the rows of people and the music switched to a celebration. Bottles of wine were popped open and laughter soon filled the open hills.
Everyone spent the afternoon laughing and enjoying the food Oric spent months preparing. The chef was watching everyone having a good time and felt the gaze settle on him. He watched the blonde woman approach and she brushed the tear away.
"You promised you wouldn't cry."
He smiled and said "I hate to break my promise but I can't help it."
Smiling, she rested her hand on his shoulder and he gave it a squeeze.
"I'm so glad to see him happy."
"Even if he doesn't show it."
The man laughed and said "Even if he doesn't show it."
They shared a drink and she spotted her brothers watching from a few feet away. Her father was speaking with Jonathan and she approached the two siblings. Alexander gave her a hug and looked down at her.
"I'm so happy for you."
She smiled and said "Let me know when that son of yours wants to visit."
He nodded and she glanced at Liam. The man was putting up a good face and she felt him finally look at her.
"Promise me if something happens, you'll tell me."
She smiled and kissed his jaw.
"Don't worry so much. It'll give you frowns and then you'll never settle down."
Alexander laughed and she joined him. Liam shook his head with a frown but couldn't fight it as it turned into a smile. He gave her a big hug and she looked around at the guests. Spotting Grace walking toward the stable, she left her family and pursued the woman. She stopped when the woman approached Eleanor waiting with William.
"Are you going to slip away without a goodbye?"
Grace smiled and looked back at her. The two hugged and she took a deep breath.
"I never was good at them."
"Then stay."
The woman tried to smile but sighed. "I can't."
Eve studied the look in her eyes and said "We want you to stay. You're family."
Grace caught her hand and said "Take good care of him for me."
"Grace."
She shook her head and caught the reins William still held.
"Just a second."
She looked over her shoulder and met her approaching cousin's gaze. He stood next to Eve and looked back at her with a softer gaze than she could remember him having in a long time.
"You know you're always welcome here and I think it would be better if you brought Christopher with you on your visit."
She smiled and gave him a hug. He slowly returned it and she couldn't help but laugh.
"That means so much."
He nodded and Eve glanced toward the party. She saw her brother watching as Alexander spoke with their father and looked back at Grace. The woman had caught the man's gaze on her and felt the hand capture hers.
"Eve?"
She smiled and said "Come on. You might as well say hello to him."
"But I have to leave."
"Exactly."
She ignore Grace's protests and stopped walking right in front of Liam. He stare back at her with a quizzical look and she smiled.
"Liam, I want you to meet Grace."
He turned his blue gaze on her and said "It's nice to meet you."
The woman smiled and said "Hello Liam."
Eve stepped back and watched them shake hands.
"Are you going somewhere?"
Grace nodded and said "My brother asked me to return home after the wedding."
They soon were engaged in their own world and she felt an arm slip around her waist. Looking up into brown eyes, she leaned her head on his shoulder and watched the two.
"You know it'll be harder for her to leave now."
"I know."
He looked down at her and said "You're always planning something."
She smiled and said "That's who I am."
He smirked and said "I think it's time we leave."
"And where are you taking me?"
"Somewhere no one else is allowed."
He walked her back to the stable and William met them with Carina and Solomon. The two were saddled and she looked up at the man. He walked her up to Carina and offered a hand up. She slid into the saddle and watched him mount onto Solomon. William stepped back smiling and he glanced back at her.
"Race you to the pier."
She smiled and said "You're on."
They took off toward the valley and flew past the thriving party. Felic watched them head down into the town and smiled. Alexander joined him and he looked back at the valley.
"Think they'll make it?"
The King smiled and said "Just as much as Liam will."
The two looked back at the young man talking with Grace and smiled.
"At least now he has someone to occupy his time."
"Hopefully she isn't as complicated as our sister."
Felic chuckled and said "We can only hope."
They walked over to Liam and he introduced Grace to them. The four spoke until sunset and walked back inside. As the door shut behind them, Grace stopped and looked back outside. Liam watched his family go upstairs and turned back to her.
"Is something wrong?"
She sighed and said "I was suppose to leave hours ago."
"I'm sure he will be okay if you're one day late."
Smirking, she looked back at him and said "He's not as understanding as you are with your sister."
"I'm nowhere close to that. She drives me crazy."
Grace laughed and said "But you love her nevertheless."
He sighed and said "She has that effect one everyone and unfortunately that goes for Jonathan."
"That is my cousin you're talking about."
"I'm sorry to hear that."
She laughed again and heard "You should laugh more often. It's beautiful."
Feeling the blush on her skin, she looked away and said "You should stop."
He chuckled and said "I don't give up easily."
She felt him take her hand and lead her to the stairwell. Waiting for her decision, he watched her slowly nod and they climbed the stairs. She followed him into the West Wing and left him to check on the children. Kara was sitting on her bed petting Tanner with Trevor stretched out at the end.
"Bedtime you two."
Kara smiled and asked "Are you staying longer?"
She nodded and said "Someone has to keep a firm eye on you two while your parents are gone."
Trevor smirked and said "It's good to hear those words again."
"Well I imagine you will be hearing them a lot."
He groaned and she shook her head with a smile. Tanner hopped off the bed and she watched Kara slip under her covers.
"Night Grace. Night Uncle Liam."
Grace looked back at the doorway and found the man watching. He was leaning against the doorway and she looked back at Trevor. He was watching them with a knowing smirk and she raised an eyebrow.
"Oh all right. I'm going. Come on Tanner."
The dog followed him across the hall into his room and the door shut behind them. She left the room after turning the light out and Liam pulled the door shut behind her.
"You're good with them."
She smirked and said "I've been with them since Eve brought them here. It's been nearly a year but it feels like forever."
He watched her head back to the East Wing and leaned against his door. When she disappeared he noticed his brother watching him and send him a warning look.
"Hey, I'm not the one falling for another land dweller."
"Shut it."
The man chuckled and said "She seems like she suits you just fine."
Liam frowned and said "You'd say that."
The two brothers stepped into their own rooms and Liam stretched out on his bed. He looked up at the ceiling and let the patterns steal his gaze as his thoughts drifted back to Grace. Eve introduced her today but he had noticed her the first few days they had arrived. The woman was captivating and left him in a state of wonder. Just a touch of her hand sent jolts of electric power through him and he let the thoughts of her pull him into a pleasant dream.
