A/N: A month later...
The diner was fairly empty and had an old record player filling the room with some blues. A waitress walked out of the kitchen and sat a platter down in front of him. She topped off his mug and winked. He picked up the mug and she walked away irritated. His eyes caught the irritation easily and turned his attention back to the papers in front of him.
With a sip from his mug, he looked at the contract and studied all the ties to it. He rubbed the crook of his nose and leaned back in the booth. Pete had gotten his eyes set on another possible tourist location and he had been given the assignment. True he was one of the best men in the company, but he hated doing the work. With one last look at the contract, he picked up his fork and started to eat his dinner.

A/N: One week later....
The planed taxied and the loading ramp was attached to the door. The passengers stood up and filed off the plane. His eyes studied the lobby as he walked to the exit and then he waited for his rental SUV. When the rental drove up, he handed the papers over and took the keys. Then he tossed his suitcase and briefcase into the back seat and walked to the driver's door.
He slid behind the wheel and looked at the directions he got from Pete. His eyes memorized every detail and he pulled onto the road. It took him ten minutes of driving through small subarbs to reach the hotel. When he pulled up, a man approached him and took the keys from him, or tried to.
He put the keys in his pocket and the man said, "Sir, we will park your vehicle somewhere you will have access to and your bags will be taken to your suite."
His eyes sent the man on his way and he grabbed his luggage. Then he locked the SUV and walked into the lobby.
'Pete didn't mess up this time.'
He approached the desk and the clerk smiled at him. He handed her his papers and she gave him his roomkey. Then he turned and walked up the stairs to the third floor. His suite was down in the middle of the hallway and it gave him time to learn every detail. When he reached the door, he unlocked it and stepped inside.
He put his bag and briefcase on a table and walked to the window. The curtains hid a balcony and he pushed them aside. He unlocked the door and stepped outside. The room had a decent view of the subarbs around the hotel and gave him enough solitude to stand the assignment. Then he walked back into the suite and started unpacking.
When his suitcase was put away and he had his contract out for another look, his phone rang. Without a second thought, he picked it up and read the number.
Then he flipped the top up and heard, "Adam! I take it you're in by now?"
His eyes narrowed slightly and he said, "Correct."
Pete chuckled and said, "Just wanted to tell you that the first meeting isn't until tomorrow at noon. Enjoy the sites, please. I don't want you just there to do your job."
He shook his head and said, "Hn. Forget it."
Then he hung up and sat down next to the couch. His eyes drifted back to the balcony and he got to his feet. He grabbed his jean jacket and left the suite.
