The rain was quiet as the thunder rolled in the darkness. A lightning bolt lit the surrounding camp to where it was visible. The tent with a light inside was tan and one flap was tied back halfway. Another bolt came and thunder echoed afterwards. He took a deep breath and looked down at the man resting on the cot.
Then the feeling of being watched crept in and he looked up. He heard his brother take a deep breath and caught movement from the corner of his eye.
When he looked down, he heard, "You better go."
He shook his head and said, "Can't leave you alone, Ter. Boss wouldn't go for it."
A rough breath escaped his chest and he said, "You will if you wish to see the next five minutes."
He looked down at him and asked, "What are you talking about?"
With his eyes closed, he said, "Help me out into the storm and I'll show you."
Michael slipped an arm under the man's healing body and helped him up to his feet. Then he slowly walked to the flap and slipped into the rain. When they stood in the soaking rain, he looked at his brother.
Then he heard, "Run, Mic."
The man pulled away with pain screaming in every inch of his body and he watched the idiot just stare at him. Then he looked back to the shadows.
Slowly he saw Michael leave and he said, "Finally he listens."
Then he took a deep breath and watched. Lightning lit the shadows and he saw the gun aimed right at him. Her eyes were wild and she was soaked. He took another rugged breath and took one step closer. When he stood still, he glanced around and watched as she slowly slipped out of the shadows.
Her eyes were focused on him and he asked, "You just going to stand there or are you here to actually get your answers and put me out of my misery?"
She set the trigger and said, "Talk."
He nodded and said, "I suppose you want everything so, here it goes.."
Slowly he revealed secrets to her and he watched her face for her reactions. When he was finished, he took a deep breath and waited. She lowered the gun slightly and he advanced closer. He stopped mere inches away from her and studied her for the first time since he had found her. His hand slowly brushed her arm and she jerked away.
He sighed and said, "Sorry."
She eyed him and asked, "Are you really or do you even know what your buddies did to me?"
Slowly he met her gaze and said, "I know and god do I wish it had never happened."
Her face softened slightly and he asked, "Can you at least take this?"
He pulled out her necklace and he watched her focus on it. Then he used the moment and regained the ground she had put between them. He picked up her left hand and dropped the necklace into it. She closed her hand and pulled her arm away slowly. When she slipped the necklace into her pocket, she looked back at him and found him watching her like a predator.
His hand slowly lifted her chin up and he asked, "Can I start making up for the time we lost?"
She smirked and whispered, "You've got a lot of time to make up."
He chuckled and wrapped his free arm around her body even as the pain continued. Then he looked into her eyes and she wrapped her arms around his neck.
Slowly he lowered his mouth to hers and whispered on her lips, "I've missed you."
