With the rain falling down onto the ground outside the window, the room was quiet and cool. The lights were all off and the curtains were pulled back since no one came into the room. When the door opened, it didn't make a sound. It was closed quickly and she looked at the bed. To see him lying helplessly in that bed with such a mystery surrounding him made her want to just cry for him.
When she rested on the side of the bed she looked at him. He was sleeping and she knew why. The doctors were keeping him under as his body recovered from the attack. She still didn't know what had happened, but had a feeling she knew why. It had only been a week since she had been at his place and now here he was.
She sighed and mumbled, "Just great. It's not like I need this on my conscious as well as everything else."
Her eyes moved over his disfigured face and she heard a muffled moan. It had to be a trick. He couldn't be waking up when he had all those drugs in his system. Then his eyes opened slightly and she waited to see if he focused on her or not. Slowly he looked at her and she held her breath hoping that he would just go back to sleep.
His eyes opened more and she managed to say, "Hey there, cowboy. Got yourself into another mess I see."
He smirked and asked, "What's the difference?"
She watched his eyes fall closed and said, "I just wanted to check in on you. We got worried when we hadn't heard from you for a while. Mags told me that you were brought here just yesterday."
His eyes opened instantly and he asked, "Did you say a week?"
She nodded and asked, "What about it?"
He looked up at the ceiling and said, "It's nothing."
The door opened and she looked back over her shoulder. A nurse stood waiting to check him out and she looked back at him. He was watching her and she smirked.
She leaned down to his ear and said, "Sleep it off. I need you to take care of something for me by the name of Telk."
He smirked and said, "You know I'd have no problems doing that too."
Her smirked turned into a smile and she felt their hands become close. She took a deep breath and looked back at the nurse. The woman was still waiting patiently and she turned around one more time. His eyes were still fixed on her and she covered his vision while standing. He pulled her hand back from his face and she looked down at him.
He raised one eyebrow and she said, "Didn't want you to have to see me leave."
He released her hand and she stepped away from the bed. The nurse walked over to him and Amy walked to the door. She could still feel his gaze on her, but couldn't risk looking back at him. Then she reached the door and left without another look back.
