Listening to: Opening Theme-Nobuo Uematsu
Feeling: tired
"Mom!"
Opening her eyes, she took a deep breath and looked at the door.
"Mom!"
Glancing across the bed, she pushed the bedding off and slid to her feet. Grabbing her robe resting by the bed, she slid it on and tied the belt around her waist. Quietly she walked to the doors and pulled one open. She looked out into the hall and found no one. Taking a deep breath, she stepped out of the bedroom and walked down the hall.
"Mom!"
Looking toward the West Wing, she followed the call and stopped outside the library. She pulled a door open and stepped onto a boat. Looking around, she found herself clothed in her normal clothes and the deck was covered with busy hands.
"Mom!"
The voice called her to the bow and she saw him leaning against the side. The wind was playing with his hair and he turned his brown eyes on her. He held out her hand and she placed hers in his. She let him guide her up next to him and stared out over the ocean at the sunset.
"Everyone down!"
Looking over her shoulder, she found Christopher standing in front of them with his gun drawn. Jonathan blocked her from moving and stared back at his cousin. The man shot him a sick look and raised the gun. She pushed him out of the way when it went off and felt it go through her shoulder.
The impact sent her overboard and she hit the ocean water. Her eyes locked onto the man's eyes as she drifted to the ocean floor. Arms caught her toward the bottom and she looked up.
"You don't belong here."
Looking up at her father, she felt him release her and she checked her wound. It was missing and she looked back at the king. He shook his head and she swam back to the surface. She climbed up on the ship and pulled herself onto the deck. Dropping to her knees, she caught her breath and saw Christopher roll him off ship.
Her scream woke her and she sat up. Looking around the dimly lit bedroom, she ran her hands through her hair. Feeling her pulse racing, she looked to her side and found the man still asleep. She slid out of bed and walked to the windows. Pulling the curtains back, she looked out at the sunrise and tried to ignore the dream.
"What is it?"
She looked back at his voice and found him watching. He leaned his arm on his knee and stared at her with his hard gaze. She looked back at the sunrise and pushed the nightmare to the back of her mind.
"It's nothing."
His eyes narrowed but he kept his mouth shut as she came back to bed. He watched her settle in and he wrapped his arm around her. She leaned her head on his shoulder and felt his hand running through her hair. Her eyes drifted closed slowly and soon he followed.
"Get out."
Looking over her shoulder, she met his brown gaze and could feel the hatred. She held her ground and he tossed a bag of her stuff onto the ground.
"Take those and leave."
"What?"
His eyes turned cold and she watched him head down the hall. She knelt down at her bag and opened it. Pictures caught her eye and a piece of paper fell onto the ground. She picked it up and felt her hands start to shake. The paper laid on the floor and she drew her knees up against her.
Her body shook with the tears and the door opened next to her.
"What are you doing?"
She didn't look up and felt him grab her arm. He forced her down the hall and she jerked free at the stairwell. His brown eyes stared back at her with hatred and she lowered her gaze.
"Go home."
"I can't."
He stared back at her without a care and she took a deep breath. She stepped past him and descended the stairs. Leon stood at the bottom and offered a hand.
"Please don't listen to him, Eve."
She looked up at the butler and said "I have no choice."
Leon watched her pull a door open and step into the sunlight. She walked through the courtyard and walked toward the hills. Her mind spun in several directions and she stopped above the valley.
"Eve!"
Looking back, she saw him running toward her and turned away. Walking down the hill, she spotted the guards and felt everything grow cold. Looking around, she found Christopher waiting and he flashed her an all too familiar grin. He approached her and she watched him stop a few feet away.
He leaned in close to her ear and said "I told you I'd win."
The knife forced her to her knees and he sent a blow to her face. Landing on the ground, she felt a raindrop and looked up.
"That should keep your people in place."
Her eyes started to blur and she looked up at the sky. As they grew tired, she could feel the darkness approaching and heard boots stop. She forced her eyes open and saw him looking down at her.
"Why didn't you fight back?"
His brown eyes lost their hatred and she ran her hand along his jaw.
"Stay with me."
Her eyes fell closed as the rain soaked her skin and he held her against his chest. He caught her limp hand and hung onto it.
"Eve."
"Eve."
Feeling the stare, she woke and found him watching her.
"Are you okay?"
She sat up slowly and he drew her against him. His steady heart beat pushed the images away and she looked up at him.
"You were dreaming."
Looking away, she tried to come up with an explanation but her throat wouldn't work.
"Was it the same dream?"
She shook her head and he looked down at her. Her body was frigid and he ran his hand along her cool arm.
"Look at me."
Slowly she looked up and he caught hold of her mouth. The kiss was passionate but gentle, easing her nerves. A knock caught their attention and he looked down at her. She still looked shaken and he ran his hand through her hair.
"I'll get it."
She felt his warm body disappear and watched him move to the door. Drawing her knees up to her chest, she wrapped her arms around them and watched him open the door.
"Morning. I brought you two some breakfast."
He stepped aside and she saw Grace enter. The woman smiled at her as she laid the tray on a table and stood up straight.
"Oric figured you might eat if you weren't in front of others."
She nodded and the woman flashed her a smile. They watched her leave and he shut the door.
"Are they that determined?"
He looked back at her and she saw the hint of a smirk on his face. He came back to the bed and crawled in next to her. Her head rested on his shoulder and he ran his hand through her hair.
"You do need to eat."
"Why?"
He looked down at her and said "You'll need the energy for the night."
She turned her blue eyes on him and he explain.
"There will be a ball tonight in honor of Trevor and Kara."
"Why?"
He smirked and said "They were adopted."
Her eyes lost their light and he released her. He slid out of bed and walked over to his desk. She watched him pull out a folder and head back to her. He handed it to her and she slowly took it.
"The papers?"
He nodded and said "You deserve the right to see who."
She took a deep breath and opened the folder. He watched her read over the documents and look up at him. He took the folder back and she watched him put away. Quietly he slid back into bed and she faced him.
"When did you do this?"
He looked into her ocean eyes and said "It was finalized a week ago. I've been pushing it through for a month."
"But the doctor?"
"He said they already have a family that they wanted to stay with."
She smiled and captured his lips. The hunger he tasted was addicting and he wrapped his arm around her. Slowly she pulled back and he looked at her with fire in his eyes.
"What was that?"
"That was a thank you."
He smirked and said "I could get used to that."
She laughed and pulled him back down to her.
"Ew!"
Pulling back, she caught his growl and looked at the door. Kara and Trevor were standing at the foot of the bed and had looks of disgust on their faces.
"You shouldn't do that in front of us."
She smirked and caught the man's hidden hand to keep him quiet.
"Get a room."
"We had one until you barged in."
The two males looked at each other with challenge and she shook her head.
"That's enough you two."
Trevor looked up at her and Kara came over to the side of the bed. She climbed up onto the bed and Eve took her in her arms.
"Are we still having the party?"
She nodded and ran her fingers through the soft red hair. Kara smiled and wrapped her arms around her neck. Trevor grunted and she looked back at him.
"Problem?"
He rolled his eyes and said "Too much hugging."
She shook her head and looked back at the man next to her. His brown eyes met her gaze and she smirked.
"You rubbed off on him."
The man shrugged and said "Can't help it. He's a kid."
"Uh huh."
His eyes narrowed and she felt him catch her chin. His mouth crushed hers and she felt Kara squirm away. Pulling back, she caught her breath and looked back at the two siblings.
"We'll see you two tonight."
Trevor smirked and pulled his sister out of the room. The door shut and she watched Jonathan get up. He walked over to the doors and locked them. Smirking, she rested her head on her knees. He came back into bed and she curled up in his side.
"They grew on you."
"Yeah right."
She smirked and said "Liar."
He raised an eyebrow and she propped herself up on her elbow.
"I know when you're lying. Tell me the truth."
"I have no idea what you are talking about."
She smirked and said "I'm talking about you accepting them and giving them a family."
"I didn't do it for me."
She eyed him and said "I don't like liars."
"I'm not."
"Yes you are."
"What are you going to do about it?"
She studied his face and rolled away. He watched her climb out of bed and sat up. The woman disappeared into the bathroom and he shook his head.
"You might want to be clothed when I get out."
He looked back at her and caught the look in her eye before she shut the door. Smirking, he slid out of bed and dressed in the clothes laid out for him. Running his hand through his hair, he slid his boots on and walked over to the table. The food was still warm and he sat back down on the bed. He stared at the bathroom door and a smile slid across his face briefly.
He wasn't going to waste another night. Tonight would be it. She was going to have to make a decision.
