Weathered Chapter 16.

Listening to: Faint-Linkin Park
Feeling: hip

His eyes watched her serve more customers and he could only wonder what happened. Her first night at work had caused more customers to appear and she seemed to be enjoying the job. They still had the customers coming in by dozens, she seemed to be a walking weapon about to go off. Then he saw the door open and watched Mags enter. He instantly made the connection and walked over to Honey.

She looked up and he pointed to the approaching woman. Her blood began to burn and she stepped into the back room. Everything she had believed over the past seven years were lies and it was all because of the woman she had become friends with long ago. The night she had found out the truth she had drunk more than ever. She hated to remember how wasted she felt the next day, but it helped to numb the feeling of betrayal.

She took a deep breath and walked back to her job. Her eyes instantly found Mags, but she ignored her. She walked over to some new people and got their orders. When Billy helped Mags, she felt some relief and she continued her work. Then she saw him walk in and she held her tongue to prevent a curse.

He spotted her, but made his way over to Mags. She watched how the two talked and her blood began to boil. Then she saw a young guy watching her and she smirked. Billy sent her an indication to go help herself and she mouthed a thank you to him. Then she slipped out from behind the counter and let the guy lead her onto the dance floor.

The beat caused some of her frustration and hatred to dissolve and she slowly settled into the music. As they danced, Mags watched her and sighed. That guy shouldn't be dancing with her. Her friend should be the one moving next to her, but it was obvious this woman wanted to be left alone. Then she saw her friend shift and walk to the dance floor.

He studied the two dancers before he slipped into their little dance. When he knocked the boy away without a touch, he could feel her body tighten in protest. Then he wrapped his arm around her waist and felt her pulse jump slightly. He smirked and let himself get pulled in her dance with the music. Eventually they were dancing while looking at each other and he took in her facial characteristics.

She could tell she was warming up to him and she hated it. She had to get out of here and disappear again. The first time it was him disappearing, but this time it had to be her. Everything was so blurred together anymore that she couldn't stand it. Her mind instantly demanded for her to go get lost again.

Then she saw Mags watching them with a smirk of satisfaction and she jerked free. She wasn't about to give this woman satisfaction and she walked off the dance floor. Billy handed her jacket to her and she thanked him. He knew as much as she did that it took all she had to just stay here. When she opened the door she heard the two talking and she slipped out into the night.

Her feet carried her down the street and when she felt eyes on her, she looked over her shoulder. He was standing about half a block back and she pulled her jacket tighter around her. Then she turned back west and headed to the motel. When she reached her room, she didn't see him anywhere and she slipped inside. Her eyes found the bottle on the side of her bed and she shed her jacket.

Then she walked over to her bed and picked up the bottle. Her eye studied the remaining liquid in it and she grabbed some pills to kill her headache. As she downed the pills with a drink a knock came from her door. When she looked at the door another knock came. She sat on her bed and took another drink just as her door came flying open.

She got to her feet as he stormed over to her and he pulled the bottle from her grasp. Her eyes narrowed and he held her gaze. Then she felt the liquid settling into her system and she felt her emotions dull to nothingness. When she felt the dizziness settle in, he slipped an arm around her just before she collapsed. Her eyes looked for the bottle and she found it on the side table again.

He took the bottle from the table and walked to her bathroom. She could hear him pouring it down the drain and she wished she could fight him off. All she had wanted was for him to find her again, but now she didn't want to look at him. When he knelt in front of her, she felt him run a warm cloth over her face and she took a deep breath. He placed the cloth on the side table and looked back at her.

'God, not now. No more.'
