We’re learning about the ‘Divine Command Theory’ in Philosophy lately and I just came to the realization that, although as Mormons we are theistic, that we don’t strictly believe in the ‘Divine Command Theory’ like other religions do. For one thing we believe that God and Jesus Christ have bodies, for another, we believe in eternal progression and that we can all become Gods and Goddesses in our own due time if we live correctly and develop faith. This means that there are other Gods than God, and thus God didn’t create everything, and thus the Mormon church does not follow the Divine Command theory.
Although we don’t worship these other Gods, and we do worship God and Christ, its really no wonder that other Christian churches accuse us of not being Christian, we really do have a different way of looking at things.
I’m going to further discuss this in my private journal.
I’m pretty stressed out about midterms now! Gah, too much to do so little time! What am I doing blogging online?
