sleeping trees have dried-up leaves and refuse to let them go. they wave in the wind just like the green kind, but they're a rusty shade of red. there are huge trees full of these dead leaves, and bushes too. it looks so odd. the trees are strikingly abnormal against a clear blue sky, waving the remnants of their vivacity in the subzero gusts. they rustle in a way wholly different from they way they did a few months ago. it looks funny. like stale leftovers from fall that nature left on the counter and forgot to throw away. i found a hoop earring and a dime at my feet in astronomy. i find things when i look down. still, i think i'd rather be looking up. i found a spot of sky noticeably a deeper blue than the rest once while laying on the quad. it made me wonder.
