pianisimo!

since this weekend has been so open, free, unfettered, i have had time to do a lot of things. I started some college research, digging through piles and piles of names, most i have never heard of, 'private' universities (which always seems to portray a sense of good university, although i have seen some 'private' ones where for 20,000$ a year you can be in the company with no one who got over a 1100 on their sat! woot!) i'm still so clueless on where i will go, and truthfully, if i go instate, it won't be that bad! (gasp) i've been able to kind of peek at ACT studying (yuck, i hate all forms of standardized testing) and i've been able to play my dear piano. My piano is a black babygrand, and she is so pretty. when i play, i'm in a zone. an hour can pass and i won't feel it. i relax. i sway to the music, my body interpreting the notes as they go up the staff and down. i've wondered many times how i can 'read' music. how does my brain process that dot on the page, and have my finger go automatically to that spot, without thinking? i can just glance and know where to go. its incredible. thats another reason why i want to study the brain and neuroscience. its so fascinating. i'm playing one of chopin's more famous waltzes, and it has this beautiful middle part. really simple but really nice, as larry (my teacher) said, chopin lets you interpret the music, giving and taking from measures as you please. i also started debussy's clair de lune on my own, which has a weird middle part. i got my first A on a math test. go me.

You must play me a song on your piano. I want to see you sway.
