Letters to my mom, part 1

Hi mommy! The food here isn't bad. I had a salad, a ham and cheese sandwich, rice, and a few wings for dinner tonight...the people are really, really nice too. I've made a bunch of friends, including a really cool girl and her roommate who are staying just down the hall from me on my dorm. Their names are Jennifer (she likes horses and is a Bio major) and Leah (she's a really neat and artsy visual arts major). My roommate just basically stays in our room all day talking to her boyfriend on the phone--it's almost disappointing. I guess she'll get over it. If she doesn't, that's okay too--since I've made tons of friends already and everyone's really willing to BE friends if you just try and introduce yourself. I went to a seminar today on sign language and it was pretty cool, there were a lot of people and we basically just joked around and learned the alphabet in signs and stuff--I learned how to say "My name is Lili" and "I want a turtle", haha. My english classes are loads of fun too. My architecture in literature class is a little more dry than I hoped it would be, but it promises to be something better later on in the week. There are a lot of suck ups here though, especially in my major--they've been trying to proclaim their supreme knowledge of the subject (even if they sound like complete idiots later) and some people are totally arrogant. Everyone else, though, is incredible. It's a really cool experience so far (and I've only been here one day!!!!). I've got a poetry class too (which was like my least favorite choice, yuck) but it's turning out to be a good, fun experience. Tell everybody I love them!! Your little girl, Lili
