Work in Progress

I've been doing some thinking lately about life and what we leave behind. If we have nothing we leave behind on the world when we die, did we even exist? If we don't cause anything to change, did we have an effect on anything? I suppose it depends on the span in which you see things. Tomorrow, I can say that I existed today, but in another 2000 years, who will ever tell that I existed unless I left some sort of remainder behind? Can a cause still exist if what it effects ceases to exist? I guess when you look at it in the grand scheme of things, we never really change anything. In a few billion years, humans will probably not exist, the world will go back to the way it was before we ever existed, and the universe will return to what is essentially normality. Even if we destroy the world, which is very possible, what will we really have changed? Wow, one less planet among countless others. If we go through life and we never change anything, what is the point of living? Why not just kill yourself? Why bother to exist? This question has crossed many minds, I know, but I still like to explore the concept. Humans seem to always be trying to change things, to make a difference in the world, but its really useless overall. I had a whole lot more to say, but its just not worth it. I could go on for about another 8 paragraphs about all of my bullshit, but I'm just gonna call it an end here.
