So many distractions. I live my life on a distraction to distraction basis. Its like I go from one form of entertainment to another. This seems to be the way society works. We are all just trying to stave off boredom until we die. We are addicted to not having to actually think because maybe, just maybe we might have an original thought every now and again that we would have to deal with. This would be a terrible thing. I mean, an original thought! We might not be part of the cattle herd of people on the bandwagon of popular culture. We are just addicted to buying and selling distractions to one another. We have cell phones with video games on them, televisions that record shows for us, coffee makers that automatically brew coffee for us, microwaves that are environmentally sensitive, vibrating sexual devices with glow in the dark tips, condoms that come pre-lubricated, chocolate milk that comes premixed in plastic containers that we buy for 99 cents, digitally triangulated tracking systems in our car to tell us where we are going, alarm clocks to tell us when we are getting up, palm pilots to tell us when we need to check our e-mail, remote controls to televisions with thousands of channels, free music downloads online, and a billion other useless inventions. If we could just take our heads out of our asses for a minute we might be able to see the shithole that we've dug ourselves into. There was a time not so long ago when people's only entertainment was telling stories and sitting by the fire while the animals we killed earlier in the day cooked in an unsanitary pan. We actually had to listen to what eachother had to say instead of just brushing them off and ignoring them. Because of our endless ability to distract ourselves, our entire family structure is falling apart. There are more deadbeat dads and whore mothers now than ever before in history. We're raising children now that raise themselves on the distractions of a society obsessed with sex, violence, and drugs. We are completely dependent on the tools of modern society that we've all come to be addicts of. Its important to me to take time away from these things and just be by myself. I need to be away from convinience for a while and just be in solitude. It gives me time to process the constant barage of ads and flashy brand new forms of entertainment. This is sometimes not an easy task...and society makes it as hard as possible on us to escape it. Some people I've talked to believe that this may have been the real reason for the war in Iraq. They don't have any of the shit that we've convinced ourselves to be most important in life over there. They live in a world where they don't need to spend spend spend on shit they don't have any use for or any desire to work for so we go in and blow the shit out of them. Of course, none of it would be possible without the magnificent George Bush, who may have just destroyed the last bastion of freedom left on the planet. We are the terrorists. Not them. Maybe if we should spend a little bit more time on taking care of the problems that we've created over here, we could really do some good for the planet. But I guess thats not our goal. Our goal seems to be to control the world. Fuck politics. Seriously. Nothing is every going to change to the way I think it should be. I think I heard it best when I heard this quote somewhere..."If voting could change the system, it would be illegal." Thats about goddamn right. I fuckin' hate the way the government runs things. They operate under the "We're always right because we are big and better than every other country ever" motto. Its these self-righteous morons that have been poisoning politics since the beginning of time. Fucking tax burdening, oppressive suit-monkies. Viva La Vida Merde. I'm going to make it a point to never talk politics on here again. They just piss people off because no one can agree on one decisive view. And, I don't want to convert anyone. I don't want to start a revolution. I just want to rebel in my own way and move on with my life ignoring the dumb shit that happens everyday in Washington.
