Listening to: \"Day - O\" - Harry Belefonte
Feeling: high
Well, I got high again and now I'm sitting around watching Beetlejuice. This movie is pretty fucked up. Tim Burton really knows how to make a movie. I mean this, Edward Scissorhands, the First Batman... Everything He makes is good. And with Danny Elfman working the music, the movie really takes you into a whole other world. Being high has caused me to do, as I often do, over-analyze everything in this movie. I've noticed a lot of under-lying symbolism in it. For instance, the man's name is Adam and there is this one scene where they are about to call out to Beetlejuice for help for the first time. The woman's name is Barbara, but the scene is very symbolic of Adam and Eve in the Bible. I mean, she in effect, evokes evil by calling Beetlejuice's(if you were counting, that was my third time saying his name....Spooky) name 3 times. This is much like in Genises when Eve pulls the apple from the tree of the knowledge good and evil. Then, after they talk to Beetlejuice he appears to them in the form of a snake. Its so obvious when you watch it and realize the symbolism behind it. Like I said, its pretty fucked up.
Daylight comin' me want to go home.
UPDATE 6/27/05: Wow. I'm really a moron. I totally fucked up the Adam/Eve story. I MUST have been high. Seriously, what a stupid entry...
