My summer in San Anto

My summer in San Antonio is almost over and I do not want to leave. It has been an amazing and educational experience. The people I have met here (editors, reporters and fellow interns) have made me challenge myself and get out of my writer's rut. I feel re-energized and more prepared to go into the real workforce now... well after my last year of college. For the first time in a very long time, I can honestly say that I feel blessed. To all of the people at the San Antonio Express News, thank you for making this the best summer of my 22 years. I will take everything I've learned this summer and try to apply it to real life. Thanks for letting me take on my own stories and projects, letting me take photos and trusting me to do good work for you. I hope that I haven't let you down in any way. Thanks for challenging the hell out of me. Thanks for making me believe in myself again. Just a few more days to go and a few more stories to finish... and my time in San Antonio will be up. But no worries... I'll be back soon and ready to take on the world! Highlights: 1. Interviewing Streetlight Manifesto on their tour bus during Warped Tour. The lead singer was definitely in his boxers. 2. The TX Throwdown and Car Show aka Skank Fest. The car fire was the coolest on-the-spot reporting I've ever done. 3. This Providence concert at the White Rabbit 4. Talking to the Ring Master of the Barnum and Bailey and Ringling Brothers Circus over the phone and getting free tickets to the actual circus. 5. Having the chance to write 20 + stories in a time span of 2 months and 2 weeks. 6. Taco Haven. 'Nuff said. 7. Getting to see what a real newspaper office is like... and knowing that this is where I want to spend my life. Yes, I'm married to my work. 8. Living in a big city by myself. Out of all the big cities in TX, San Anto is the best. 9. The YMCA on St. Mary's. Thanks for keeping me in shape! 10. Any and all kinds of cereal. My breakfast, lunch and dinner of choice.
