The Renaissance Man

Feeling: hopeful
I'm officially counting today as the first day of summer. It was hot enough today, I longboarded enough today and I had one of my dad's cheeseburgers for dinner. Today was a day that could only happen in Scottsdale and could only happen with how hot it was today. I love it though. The reason I titled my entry the way I did is because I saw Zach Dodds' new band play their first show today. It was one of the greatest musical/visual experiences I've had in quite a while. I've seen good shows, and I've heard plenty of good bands... but I just don't relate to any of them like I do to Zach, and now that he's got a new project, it just gives me another aspect of my life to be excited about (there are many of them right now). The thing that I love about seeing Zach is that he's always about three steps ahead of me music wise/ attitude wise and especially respect wise... he's just so incredibly set in how he does things, and it's not a bad thing at all, because the way that he lives his life is a complete reflection of how compassionate and musical he really is. I want to be able to make music like Zach does. I want my music to be deliberate, subtle, precise and especially a reflection of my personality... that's something that Zach has come to grips with and I haven't exactly gotten the hang of yet. Anyway, the coolest part of his new band is the fact that they are incredibly innovative in that they're a mix of audio and visual art... they play songs and make videos and show them in one performace. It's the coolest experience to see every aspect of these guys' creativity. Argh! Did you ever just really want to express yourself, but you felt bound by not having enough experience or training. That's how I feel right now. I'm proficient at guitar, but I don't want to be just proficient, I want to excellent. My voice is okay, but I want it to be able to portray a story, or envoke a feeling. I'll get it with time you guys. As for now, I'm going to bed, so have a nice night everyone.
