In Loving Memory

Feeling: complicated
It's Saturday afternoon and I could safely say that if I could turn back time a week I would. This week been more than insane, more than unbelievable. I should start with Saturday afternoon of last week. One of my good friends, Taylor Burgstahler, and I went to go get lunch and act like idiots (typical policy)... so we came back to my house and played Halo 2 for an hour or so and the time came when I had to get ready for work, so he left. I had talked to him about coming to see a show that I was playing the next night with my church band... and he seemed pretty excited about it, so I told him if he had nothing going on he was welcome to come. I didn't know this, but he decided to go camping with two of my other friends, Nick and Donnie. I got a call from one of my best friends (also a friend of Taylor's) Kevin Hassett on Monday morning at about 2am... All he said was "Taylor died." in a hysterical, broken up voice. They were going fishing and he lost his footing, fell and hit his head and chest on the way down towards the water. He fell in and Donnie jumped in after him, but it was too late. They didn't find his body until Tuesday, but we all knew what had happened. He was planning on this being his last week in Scottsdale... he was moving to Pittsburgh for his dad's job, and I did get the chance to say goodbye... but I wasn't ready for this. I wasn't ready to never see him again. This is the most compassionate, honest, joyful friend I've had ever. I don't know how God works out stuff like this... but I know everything's going to be alright. It's insane you guys. I gotta get going, but I've been trying to keep the fact that life is so fragile and so precious in the back of my mind... it's unbelievable.
