Finally, I have internet! I got moved in on Monday and it's now Thursday, geez, that took forever. First I didn't want to hook up to the internet because the blaster worm thing was all over the ISU network. Then I got the patch from Anna so that I wouldn't get it when I connected on Tuesday. But when I went to plug in my ethernet cord, it was 2 feet short! ARG! So finally yesterday, I got to the MU and bought a 25 foot cord so I'd have plenty of cord to work with. But then I couldn't get online because the ISU network wouldn't let me register last night. I finally got it figured out this morning and now have internet (woo hoo)! I was so happy because there was an email that I really wanted to write but I couldn't because (duh) no internet. Plus, I ended up not being able to go to the leadership thing because all the info was in an email and I didn't know where it was or what time it was. Stupid me, I didn't write it down when I got it.
Anyways, I'm mostly moved in now. I say mostly because Megan hasn't moved in yet and so everything's not all home-y yet. The white walls were really bugging me so I put three postcards that I found up next to my computer desk. I have to wait until tonight/tomorrow after Megan is all moved in and the loft is put up before we can do anything.
Things around here have been pretty hectic. I hung out with Anna and Heather Monday night in Anna's huge room at the other end of the hall. I never realized how long these halls are until I have to walk all the way down them. I met Anna's new friend Karen, who's really cool and on the soccer team. Tuesday, Anna, Karen, and I went to Perkins to escape the heat and eat some yummy food and good shakes. Then, Anna and I watched a really bad movie that she took from the hall desk. It was dumb and had no plot. After we watched it, a friend from last year came over and we talked for an hour or two.
Yesterday, things around here were crazy/hectic. It was freshman move-in day so there were like 400 girls moving in. By 9, the cars were parked 5 deep on the front lawn. There was a ton of stuff in the hallway as people were putting together lofts and everything. It made me so glad I got the chance to move in early. It may have been hot but at least it wasn't crazy. And we didn't have to worry about our vehicles being towed. Yesterday, some people were actually told they had 15 minutes to unload their cars. That's just wrong. Anna said people were running by the hall desk with stuff. I'm so glad I have my nice corner room, where I can sit and enjoy the hum of my fans. But I did get to talk to Emily who lives across the hall and it's so weird, she's from Omaha! She's a sophomore and she went to Millard West. She also goes to Salt Company and knows Brian and Andrew, which is just so weird. Also weird because she went to church with Rachel Wade. It's just amazing the connections that can pop up.
Last night, Anna, Heather, and I invited two freshies to watch the Wedding Singer with us. Then at 9, we had a floor Dairy Queen run (actually, it was a walk). We met by the ramp, there were like 15-20 girls, and we all walked to Dairy Queen on Welch. It was great even though I probably only remember like 3 girls' names and they all probably think Anna and I are insane. Oh well. Afterwards, we came back and dyed Karen's hair and finished the Wedding Singer.
Today, it hasn't been that bad. I finally got internet working and then I had to take a nap because that was hard work! Then I met Emily's roommate, Kylie. Anna stopped by and asked me if I wanted to go buy Nalgene water bottles with her. I said sure, anything to keep busy and get away from the heat. On the way home, we stopped at Taco Bell to get some food.
I got my parking permit today. I have a lot 63 one! Woo hoo!!!! That makes me so happy! I mean, it didn't really matter anyway because I would get my president permit, which means I could park in the lot closer than 63, but it's just so cool because a lot 63 sticker means I'm a sophomore. I'm excited!! I know, my life is sad.
Alright. I think that's about all even though I'm just sitting around waiting for Megan to come. Too bad Anna borrowed my TV to watch the Wedding Singer. Otherwise, I could play n64.
you know you love me ;)
