BIG BREAK WAS AMAZING!!!
Yes, that's right, I said amazing. Because it was amazing. All things that calling it amazing implies, it was all that and more. Let me see if I can even begin to describe it all.
One thing that you must remember is that I had the worst week of the year right before I left. So did Anna and TP. So we get on the bus and we were just like zoned out for the first couple hours.
I got off work early on Friday and came back and finished packing in record time. Then TP and I went to Taco Bell and ate some yum-yums. We brought some back for Anna, loaded up the TPmobile, and went to meet the bus at 5. After we got on, we zoned out and then finally "came to" somewhere in Illinois. The bus that we took is probably the oldest bus still on the road (except for some of those Cy-Rides). But it was good. We watched some movies (Cool Runnings and something else, I can't remember) and the guys played a lot of poker. That was annoying because one always had to be in the seat next to me so I couldn't talk to TP or Anna because they were across the aisle. But whatever, I got over it.
Anyways, 22 hours later, we pulled into Panama City Beach's Edgewater Resort. TP, Anna, and I got our shirts and our room keys and pool tags and headed over to Tower 2, where our room was. There were 6 girls in our room but we were the first 3 to get there. We walked in and started screaming, just like in the Real World when they first see their houses. We had the coolest room ever! We were on the 12th floor (the top one) and all we could see was sand and then the ocean going on forever. It was literally breathtaking. But it gets better. TP and Anna started opening doors and boom, there's a spiral staircase. We start freaking out and of course, go up to check it out. Upstairs is a little kitchenette, bunk beds, a day bed, and a bathroom. And one of the walls is entirely a huge window looking out over the ocean. We had a door and a deck up there the size of my living room. It was so beautiful. The three of us called that for our bedroom and we woke up to the sound of the ocean every morning. This morning just seemed so wrong because I woke up to the sound of my fan and that was it.
Anyways, so we ate some BBQ Saturday night for dinner. Sunday, we had church on the beach and then we had the afternoon to do whatever. That night we had our first big conference meeting. There was about 1,000 college students from all over the eastern United States. The farthest travelled: 36 hours from North Dakota. Yeah, pretty far. Here are a few highlights from the conference:
"you can't see me"
"sometimes God is such a punk"
"spiritual yummy . . .mmmmmmmmm"
"wacky demons"
"oo-ha-ha"
"let's take Jesus to the daquiri stand"
"loveseat of love"
"diggin the chili/grilling the cheese/scooping the ice cream/dippin the salsa"
"penthouse of loooooooove"
"that's the stupidest thing i've ever heard"
"robin, you are going out on the beaches for 5 hours a day, i'm going to make sure of it"
"i like . . . i mean . . . oops"
"you two make me want to vomit"
"so swanny, where's your wife"
"let's get naked"
"fist of fury"
"wrist of fury"
Yeah, that's all I can think of for now. Basically, Monday through Thursday, we had conference meetings in the morning and hit the beach in the afternoon, talking to people, taking surveys, handing out free stuff, sharing our faith, you know, the usual. By the end of the week, the entire conference had initiated 7,409 conversations with people on the beach. 2,698 of those turned into gospel conversations and 260 people accepted Christ on the beach. To me, that is awesome. 106 people also rededicated their lives to him. It was just a tremendous week. I was really stretched spiritually because it was the first time I had shared my faith. But I am so glad I did it. I would do it over and over again in a heart beat. Last week goes on my amazing things I've done in my life list.
Anyways, this entry is taking forever so I'm just going to end with the rest of what I missed: flowers, creative dates, campus times, Ellie times, girl times, pirate ship dinner, 22 hours on a bus again, got home yesterday at 7 AM. That's all she wrote.
you know you love me ;)
