This week, I found Monoprix, which is like French Target. I think I've spent like 60 dollars there so far on food and a hairdryer and some tanktops. Today, on my fourth trip there, I really wanted to buy this cute navy skirt. French fashion is way different from fashion in America but I love it. Everyone thinks I'm so fashionable on project because I, on purpose, didn't bring any big tee shirts but only cute fitted stuff so oh la la.
Last night for community time, we all played a bunch of card games and then stayed up late talking. Nicole almost fell out the window because she was sitting on the sill and then Jon decided it would be funny if he sneaked out the other window and scared her. Well, it was pretty funny except she totally screamed, lost her balance and almost fell out. It may have been the scariest moment of my life. Nicole said that she may be terrified of windows for the rest of her life.
Thursday night we had a huge picnic in the park and it was a blast! My two friends from Morocco came and I talked to them for at least two hours. Some African guys joined Peter for a jam session on the drum and two guitars for like an hour. At one point, they were singing to Mia, one of the girls from Morocco, in french, thinking she was an american. She kept saying back, "I speak french, I know what you are saying." but they couldn't hear her. I taught Mia and Aaicha a new word last week: hills. I told them it was like "un petit montagne" - "a little mountain".
Jon actually bought some man-pris today. That's what we call capri pants on European men. He also rolled up his jeans and made them into man-pris for the rugby game last weekend. All the girls are trying to get all the guys to buy some to take them back to the states. The fashion statement I want to personally sport in the states? The skirt over the pants, it's so cute, I love it. I've been looking for a skirt that it would work with to buy.
I think I'm finally adjusting to European life. The whole extremely inefficient thing is going to bug me always but I love the fashion and the people (except for those with Euro funk). I'm learning to love le Petit Casino, our friendly neighborhood conveience store, where I can buy twix so I don't go to bed starving because I hate ham and butter sandwiches or the resto.
Meganos, do you want some that says something in French on it or something that is VERY french? I love shopping here so if you want like a purse or something I will see what I can do. Some European brands are cheaper here too.
you know you love me ;)
