GUESS WHO IS TOTALLY WRITING FROM INDIA!!! I guess they haven't discovered and blocked this site yet, either that or the bandwidth isn't so bad, which I kinda doubt...
Anyways, quick overview...
The best part about Delhi is the roads and the smells. Stepping out of our air conditioned hotel or the airport the city is hot and heavy and smells like rice and 19 million people and their vehicles. NINETEEN MILLION!!!! That's like, 1000 times as many people as in Amsterdam!!! Holey guacomole!! It smells like life... The roads aren't much wider than Division St. but honking drivers squeeze it full of 2 or 3.5 lanes and there are bikes, "scooters," little 4-seater cars, buses, lorries, military trucks... Streets lined with beggars and little shacks and "rubbish," as they call it here...
The best part about Mussoorie is the rain and the fog, we're so high it's up in the clouds and at night you can look across to the hillside and see tons of little lights twinkling through the fog and it's absolutely gorgeous, fantastical, romantical... Reminds me of pirate treasure chests and rum haha, just because I associate rum with pirates.
Some Georgie Jokes
How did the koala fall out of the tree?
It was hit by a fridge!
There were four koalas in a tree and they all fell out. The first one died. How did the second one fall out?
It was stuck to the first one.
How did the third one fall out?
Peer pressure.
How did the fourth one fall out?
It was hit by a fridge.
A Katie Addition
Why did the tree fall over?
It thought it was a koala.
Yeah. We totally dig bad jokes here ;-) It's like a school full of Claras, with unique styles and bad jokes and crazy fun and stuff, only a school full of DIFFERENT Claras, that's just an idea for those of you who know me. It's pretty neat, like the school has its own distinct culture... Everybody's sooo much closer and people actually look at each other in passing...
Among other things. They have a brilliant Pullman collection in the school library, I'm trying to ravage it but having a hard time finding time even to write in my journal... Hopefully now that I have a free period... The block schedule makes the week feel soooo much shorter.
Also we have lots of Indian food and Tibetan food and stuff, lots of variety, and the tuck man (who sells chocolate and cookies and stuff) comes a few times a week... Also if you're friends with Gus he'll give you Lindt chocolates :p
And there are monkeys everywhere!! My roommate Alisa (who is hilarious and sweet) (who is also from Germany) was carrying a mango and this little monkey with huge teeth was chasing them in circles!! And the monkeys run across the roof, when it rains we have the rhythm of the pouring drops on the glass roof and then the pitter-patterings of the monkeys running across it.
I'm really tired because last night my roommate Surekha and me couldn't sleep so we just stayed up like 2 hours later writing stupid jokes haha, you know how it goes. Everybody else was like "You guys should sleep" so we were like "Goodnight... hey do you wanna get a piece of paper and a flashlight and write notes back and forth?" hahaha. Crazy kids we are. Not Yoda. :x
So anyways, I miss you guys my SDbuddies but I'm also having a good time here... As Liz said, "I wish I could be here and in [Amsterdam] at the same time." (She originally said "Australia" so I had to replace it because I'm not from there... :x) And hopefully I'll be able to update a little bit more regularly, keep you guys posted...
Lovve to all!!!
