Feeling: claustrophobic

I have nothing to say for the past week obviously. So you getting my outloud thinking.

So far I've found a health insurance plan. Just waiting for the "surprise! We're screwing you over" bit to show up. You never really know the real price you're paying until after the whole review medical history crap and picking out any pre-existing condition they can find. So either way you go into insurance blindly.

I found the individual plan "Portrait: Share 80 Plus RX Unlimited" with Humana, whatever that means, they have weird names for their insurance plans. A $1,000 deductible that I will prolly never reach in my lifetime (unless by some freak accident, then I can afford to pay $1,000). I only use co-pays and the monthly payments and neither go toward the deductible obviously. It has my preventative care such as annual office vists (the only thing I use) which covers my OB. My drugs looks like there is a separate $500 deduct that, again, I will never reach. $15 co pay? I just need generic brand BC people, thats it. They have mental health in case I ever need it, ha. But so far I dont see it covering vision. Dental and vision are the two major needs I have.

Then I added a dental plan on this health insurance for another like $50 which covers preventative care on that side of things, annual visits or whatever, and then 50% of my "major services" (which I am classified under, as in crowns and root canals) paid after deduct (which is only $50 for an individual) So I get help with those major services. And the highest annual max limit I found is $1,000. I could use that money in like 4 months flat. Altius only had $750 annual max. Pff. Too easy to use that up. Oh oh and the best part is that my current dentist, the one I refuse to give up, takes Humana insurance. Woot woot. I can change all the other docs, I don't care. My dental is the most important at this time in life tho.

So far the total of those two plans together is $202.94 a month. Someone my age on an individual plan should get the minimum insurance on $200 or less a month, right?

In the end it either has a really good health insurance plan that meets all my needs at a low cost and then has a sucky or no dental plan to go with it. OR it has a great dental plan and lack of health benefits that I need. It's not about finding the insurance that meets ALL your needs, its finding the one that does most of your needs at a reasonable price and sacrificing certain needs for more important ones. Which needs can you do without? Basically. Like picking a husband. Ha.

I'm not a complicated person, really. I'm a healthy young adult that only sees the doc like 3 times a year tops for preventative care. And then the dentist like 12 times a year for major services that cost an arm and a leg. I'm losing my teeth, I"m going blind, and I'm trying not to get prego or STD's. Is that so hard to help out?

I'm not sure how important the deductable is, cuz well, I don't think I'll ever meet it. $500 or $7500. Almost never will I get that high. So, get a high deduct and hope no freak accident happens just to get a lower monthly rate? Or play safe and get a low deduct that I'd definitely be willing to pay for when freak accident occurs, and suffer through the high monthly costs? I guess I won't really be suffering b/c I'm not paying the monthly fees... Oh the wonderful benefits of this job.

Meanwhile I am booking appointments left and right attempting to reach my annual max for each part of my insurance I am currently on before I switch over to a new one. Take advantage of the system fully! I'm gonna see how many crowns I can get in before July 1. :D And get an eye exam next month before I seem to lose vision insurance....

So, my appointments are calendared. I got my performances that I got tickets to calendared. I need to look into at least one more insurance company to compare prices and benefits and then actually go through with it. Ugh. Then research on the Netbook and the internet that I want, but not sure if I'd actually use. And then research on a future apartment. So many questions. So many things to do. So many things I've never done before.

Some knowledgeable adult willing to assist? My family totally ditched me on the insurance subject. Won't even touch the topic.

Sigh. Growing up is no fun. I blame Resa. She started it. Marriage and a house at 21?? C'mon.
