Weather is amazing. The fact that God created seasons is even more amazing. You can enjoy a muggy summer night filled with crawling bugs all around. And within a handful of months after those evenings, you walk outside as if you are walking directly into a freezer. Bitterly cold winds that sting your face and make you want to cover every inch of it except your eyes. Snow that sits on cars and doesn't melt and streets stilled covered in ice patches. Making driving a dangerous adventure in and of itself.
Another amazing aspect that God has given us are our emotions. Those roller-coaster upside down and all around highs and lows that some of us face day in a day out. Waking up is an oportune time to thank God for being gracious and giving us another day to live for Him and for His Glory. But as you progress through the day you are faced with many different choices, thoughts fill your head, words spill out of your mouth sometimes without even stopping to think about what you are saying. God knows every word before we even speak of it. And whats disheartening about that is that sometimes our words and actions go against His will and word. The sin that so easily entangles us only leaves me to feel sorry for my actions and makes me realize that it was my sin that nailed Christ to the cross. Christ took on my prideful, arrogant, selfish sin as he was numbered with transgressors and bruised for our iniquities. Why? This is a question that never ceases to amaze me. It was out of His love, mercy and for His glory. To bring sinners to Himself and save them from their eternal damnation that they were headed straight for. God graciously chose to save me not because I was such a good person or because I had done so many good works, but because He was gracious to give me the faith to believe and to do so humbly.
As this semester has started I encourage all of you to seek Him. Remember His words as He spoke saying, "Those who do not pick up their cross daily and follow Me are not worthy to be called My disciples."
So let us all be worthy disciples as we follow a God who is worthy to be praised and followed daily.
