my decriptive essay about passion

The college students all had something in common. They came to Washington DC to experience a weekend so absolutely amazing and unforgettable that they would be hungry for more. The 3,000 college students that filled up the George Mason University basketball stadium were soon going to experience a night of breathtaking music, phenomenal worship, and sensational preaching. The air was buzzing with voices that came from all directions as the excited students walked energetically into the gigantic stadium. They were coming in, one after the other, through the numerous entrances that were positioned all around the stadium. There were smiles on all of their faces as they anxiously got to their seats and waited for the conference to start. The bleachers were soon filled with students who were either sitting, standing, talking, laughing, or taking pictures. Then the lights were suddenly turned off; darkness filled the air like a never-ending shadow and everything was quiet. But only for a split second because the sweetest sounding music pierced the darkness and the stadium quickly roared as the students started cheering and clapping furiously. Then the lights that were directly above the center of the stadium, where the stage was located, clicked on and revealed the origin of the music. Everything on stage was spread out like peanut butter and jelly. There were six tall microphones scattered in the front and center of the stage. In the far left corner stood a smiling guitar player who was daintily plucking the strings in an obvious pattern. To the right of the guitar player was an anxious keyboard player who sat facing the keyboard looking ready to play. A drummer sat in the far right corner and rhythmically pounded on the drums. Chris Tomlin (an amazing Christian singer/songwriter) stood front and center; leading the students by loudly singing the words that appeared on the gigantic television screen hanging above the stage. Then to the immediate right stood Christy Nockels (another amazing Christian singer/songwriter) behind a microphone and was also loudly singing the words to the song. All the while, brightly moving strobe lights of all different colors were quickly swirling back and forth, and up and down, all across the stage. As Chris and Christy sang, so did the 3,000 college students who surrounded the stage. Every voice came together and filled the stadium with a sound so beautifully pure that there was an amazing feeling of safeness. Thousands of hands were raised and reaching towards the sky for God. Students were jumping up and down; singing loudly together as the words appeared on the screen above them. Others were dancing like leaves in the wind. There was a sense of freeness, like they could do anything and it wouldn’t matter. They could raise their hands and scream the words to the song, dancing freely, or jumping around unashamed. It didn’t matter because everyone was there for the same reason; to worship God like never before. It was like this all throughout singing and worshiping. The students were on fire for God, and nothing could put that fire out that night. Then when the students had been lead through a few songs of worship, the music quieted and the singing eventually stopped as they excitedly sat down in their seats. The students knew that the speaker was about to give the message and they waited in anxious anticipation. Everyone whispered to those beside them as they sat in their seats and stared towards the dimly lit stage. The speaker, Loui Giglio, was walking with a piece of paper clutched tightly in his hand. Everyone watched intently as Loui stopped at the podium that was located in the front, center part of the stage. It felt like everyone held their breath, waiting for Loui to say something. Then he looked out into the crowd with a smile so big it seemed to take up his entire face. In return, the students smiled and cheered loudly. Then Loui looked down at the paper he had clutched in his hand and he set it slowly down on the podium and began reading from it. He spoke every word delinquently and with meaning behind it. Almost like he was making sure that each student could follow what he was reading. The words he read were from a college girl’s diary that had been sent to him not long before that night. The girl wrote about how she didn’t want anything to do with God. Then she went on to say that she got a new roommate who was a Christian, and she didn’t know what to think about it. But that her roommate was different than any other Christian she had ever met. After a couple weeks of talking with her roommate, she too became a Christian and helped bring others to Christ. Loui then finished his short message by talking about the everlasting love of God. As he talked, the students sat quietly and listened. They captured every word in their minds and held onto it in their hearts. Their eyes were focused on Loui as he paced up and down the stage. He spoke the words of God with more passion and love than a mother has towards her child. It was absolutely amazing and uplifting to listen to. I was blessed enough to be able to go to Washington DC and be apart of this. It was a weekend full of breathtaking music, phenomenal worship, and sensational preaching. The best and most life changing weekend that a college student could ever experience!
