…and you'll all be finishedâ€, is pretty much what one of my tutor’s said to my class today and indeed it’s true. In six months when come the end of March, all that will be left to do is our exams and that’s it, either success and out into the ‘real’ World with what will hopefully be a great degree on your shoulders keeping you ahead of the game, or turmoil that you either didn’t do as well as you had hoped or just that you really didn’t do well and you didn’t get your degree at all.
Today was my first day back at university for the start of my last year. Back to morning get ups so early that you’ll end up feeling more depressed when you’ve woken than you would be on intending to actually be ready and raring to go; but then getting up at 5:30am in the morning, who in their right mind would want (let alone be able) to roll out of bed, get showered, have a quick bite for breakfast and then leave the house while it’s still almost dark out come 6:40am – a FREAK would, that’s who – but then seeing as I have to do it, I guess I’m a freak! (Laughs to self)
Monday my busiest day and my first class is at 10am – though moved to 9am as of next week to accommodate students (such as myself) who have to go back to the main campus for a 1 O’clock lecture – and while having supposed to of finished at 1pm, the teach let us go early so the students needing to, could make it on time for their lecture. This first class (Marketing Communications) will be one of my favourites for the year. The heart of advertising itself – creating the campaign! Word play, setting out scenes, selecting music to match the scenes – I’ll have fun with that! A couple presentations and an essay involved, not too bad at all! So first lesson was fun; some great people in the class – most of which I know and talk to – a great tutor who ‘keeps you awake’, it will actually be a great way to start the day come every Monday morning.
Then on to my second class for the day which was a lecture from 1pm to 2pm for ‘Marketing Planning and Strategy’. I’m not sure exactly of what we’ll be learning or doing, but I think the majority of it revolves around an environmental/global perspective of marketing (in other words, green issues) but I’m looking forward to that as I usually have fun with those kind of topics. The lecture itself though was a whole different story. The actual room where we had the lecture was just too tiny and the lecturer, a great guy as I’m sure he is, just bored the absolute **** out of me!! I found I was smiling and laughing to myself just so I could keep myself amused and awake! Hopefully it will improve – especially in the seminars seeing as I’ll be having the same guy – as lessons like that just makes you think ‘what’s the point’!!
Anyways, so on to my final lesson of the day, ‘Media Planning’. This was straight after the lecture before had finished, but thankfully I didn’t have to travel too far to this lesson. When walking into class I couldn’t help but take one look at the teacher and think to myself, ‘dude, what’s up with this guy’? He looked a little out of it, but it turned out – that while he ever so slightly is – he’s actually an awesome teacher. It’s still early no know what work we’ve got going on in most classes, but the general gist is that for every class I (and other’s have) it’s going to be a busy and hard working year for all of us – of course, I’ll beg to differ! Lol… but I’m looking forward to (almost) every minute of it. So on to the second day…
One thing I want to touch on is that I know the "dazed" teacher description ALL too well. Believe me! Lmfao! But yes, once they get into the groove of what they love to do, teach, then they kind of surprise you!
Marketing Communications actually sounds really fun! I would like to take a class on something like that!
Marketing Planning and Strategy sounds half interesting...that Strategy part kind of...yea...sets me off a tad. But I wouldn't really know what all that meant anyways. The "green issues" aspect of it sounds kind of cool, though. "Green" has always interested me.
So yes, I hope your second day is as good, or even better, than the first. =]
