2:13 Mid Saturday Afternoon   Cool Friends Are Too Cool So mine and Ang's bday party last night was pretty fun...except for the incessant Hookah smoke, beer pong, and general stupidity. There was no one who I really felt like talking to so I pretty much just sat by the little volt arc lamp and played with it. then I went through the pictures in my phone and renamed them. John got really insecure because we found out he used to date a girl I used to be good friends with. He kept thinking I knew "secrets." Hm. I was going to stay until everyone had left to clean up, but after I woke up from my pitiful couch nap at around 2, I was like "yeah. I'm grumpy. I'm gonna go home." By that time I was sober...I stopped drinking around 10:30 and ate a lot of carbohydrate&fat-rich food. Basically I really enjoyed the beginning of the party, but towards the end I was just sick of people and smoke and beer smell. Ang, Amy, and Helen got me a sweet as rotary mat, rotary ruler, and rotary cutter for my birthday. It was amazing. And we all pitched in to get Ang a cute little Hookah. That's fine, it's her life; I'm just worried that I won't be able to hang out so much with her anymore because I can't stand the smoke. Selfish, I know. By the time I got home my throat was scratchy and I was having some trouble breathing. It felt like that time when I stayed the night in my friend's auntie's house which was rife with secondhand smoke and my airways started closing up. Whatever, though, I'm glad she had a good birthday because I love her and she's really awesome. This morning several of us went to Angie's to have breakfast. Since it was Ang's bday, they gave her a free cinnamon roll - it was MASSIVE. and DELICIOUS. This morning was a loooot better than last night, haha. Amy and I raced to finish the word-find on the kids menu. she won. I was really excited because Sol was supposed to come over to play Barbies with me today, but those plans fell through. Ah well. i'm gonna go play with my new toys some more. ----------------- 10:53 p.m. Mickey is snoring. What an adorable kitty he is. Gah, I'm going down to St G tomorrow and I am NOT PACKED. yay, i'm so organised. I'm excited because we're going to Las Vegas to climb Red Rocks and we're gonna buy scratch lotto tickets. yusssss Caleb and I looked at houses this evening. There are some really cute-looking ones that are in a good area for under 150k. I'm holding out for the summer purge, though. I learned some cool stuff reading New Scientist online. Quantum memory chips could be the future of mass storage! How cool would that be. Nanotechnology is amazing. Some British researchers are looking at photovoltaic paint to roll onto industrial steel sheets as a source of electricity for big buildings. It's not quite as efficient as standard silicon solar panels, but it's a lot cheaper...and hopefully less environmentally dangerous to produce. New energy developments make my heart sing. maybe i should go into physics. because I'm so good at it. HA, not. ...ok it's effectively 'midnight' so I'd better see about finishing up the packing for our trip south. the future is looking up. i think. i hope.
