The next day, the archers have learned enough about swordsmanship that they can keep themselves alive on the battlefield. I walk through the ranks of archer/infantry soldiers to the front of our army. Although our army was decimated, and my legion of horsemen was reduced to half of what it was, we still have a fighting chance to winning this war.
I join the general of the crimson armoured soldiers in the front of the army as the army of hellish creatures masses in front of us.
"Are you ready general?" I ask. He nods and pulls his sword from his sheath.
I smile slightly and pull out my sword as well.
The army of hellish creatures starts running towards us.
But the plan is set: the general and I will lead the main force into direct combat with the creatures, while the archers pepper them with arrows from atop a nearby hill. As soon as the archers can't fire without hitting us, they will charge into battle as well. Then the legion of horsemen will flank them.
If this plan works, their force will surely be decimated, leaving many of our troops alive. When the creatures turn tail and flee, whatever we have left of our forces will rush them and follow them until they are destroyed.
My love stands beside me and pulls out her sword.
"This earth will be bled black by the blood of our enemies!!!" I shout, and then point the tip of my sword towards the army of hellish creatures.
I yell out my battle cry as the general and every man in our army follows me in the run towards them.
The massive armies clash, and I swing my sword to the left and right, hitting any creature that decides to attack me. I carry on for a few minutes, and look at my sword. It is covered in the black blood of my enemies.
I hear another yell, and look at the archer's hill to see them running down the slope towards us, each of them holding their swords above their head as they yell and charge.
I smile as the brave undertrained archer/infantry soldiers clash with the side of the army of hellish creatures. They penetrate the ranks on that side and start shoving their way towards the middle.
I hear another battle cry and see the legion of horsemen galloping over the plains towards the army of hellish creatures.
As our three forces work their way towards the middle, the battle rages on.
I cut down several cratures that run at me, splashing their black blood to the field. I step up onto the fallen corpse and jump attack another creature, bringing my blade down through it's head. The two halves of it's head fall to either side of it's body and black blood explodes from the wound, coating my sword.
I hear the grunt of a creature behind me, and i grip the handle of my sword so the tip of my sword is facing behind me. With a quick jerk backwards, the tip of my sword penetrates the gut armour of the creature and kills it. I pull my sword back ans see that the army of hellish creatures is starting to flee.
"Finish them off!!" I shout. I raise my sword into the air and charge after the ten fleeing creatures, and we finish them off.
Of our 2500 men, only 475 remain.
I stand there amid the corpse covered field, my love stands beside me.
"Victory is ours." she says.
"But for what? So much death..." I say, looking down at the ground as my black cape billows behind me.
"C'mon," she says, "let's go home."
I take her hand and we begin walking from the field.
"Hang on." I say, and run to the top of the archer's hill.
I pull out my sword as it starts to rain. The rain rinses off my blade, and I slam the tip of it into the ground, and kneel behind it while holding both hands on the handle.
"To all the brave souls that fought and died on this field." I say, and then rise to my feet.
I join my love again and together we walk from the field.
