I spent the rest of the night talking to Athran, and we thought of a plan of escape before more guards showed up to interrogate me.
They opened the door of my cell and shoved several spears in my direction, whose tips shimmered with the light of the vampire killing metal that was so rare in Dreamland.
I knew I'd have no chance If I tried to fight back, so I sat down on my mattress. The guards moved aside so their leader could walk into the room. He wore a black suit of armour with no helmet, and a huge claymore was strapped to his back.
I thought that if he carried such a weapon, then he knew how to use it well, so I restrained myself from fighting him unarmed.
"Hello Marius." he said.
"Who are you?" I demanded through gritted teeth.
"You don't intimidate me with those fangs." he said, making a comment about my bared fangs.
"Who are you?" I demanded again, and he replied.
"I am the leader of the reborn Black Shadow, Tyrannus." Tyrannus replied.
I nodded slowly, and counted up the guards around me, determining whether or not I could take them all while taking on their leader and not getting killed.
There were ten.
"Why are you here Marius?" Tyrannus asked. My eyes darted back to him.
"I brought down the Black Shadow the first time, and I intend to do it again." I replied.
Before I could react, Tyrannus punched me across the face. I hardly felt it, but the impact was enough to rattle me somewhat.
I was about to hit him back, but he stood and glared at me with his dark eyes.
"No one shall bring down the reborn Black Shadow." Tyrannus said, before he stormed out. His ten guards followed him, and I made a dash for the door as it closed.
I shoved it open before it closed, and It knocked one of the guard's to the ground. Tyrannus spun towards me and took his claymore off of his back.
I grabbed the spear off of the knocked out guard at my feet, and prepared to fight. A guard ran at me, and I stabbed him through the gut with my spear and tossed his body aside.
Tyrannus swung at my neck with the claymore, but I batted aside the blow with the blunt end of my spear, and he fell backward.
I threw the spear at another guard, and it plunged deep into his chest. I grabbed his spear and threw it at another guard as he ran at me.
Tyrannus attacked me again, and I grabbed onto the hilt of his claymore and ripped it from his grasp. I batted him across the face with the broad side of the blade, and he went down hard.
Using his claymore, I slashed out and cut a guard completely in half. Blood splattered onto the light coloured floor, and sparkled in the dim light.
I hacked down the remainder of the guards, and Tyrannus jumped to his feet. I threw his claymore at him, and he took it and ran off, possibly to get more guards.
I ran after him as the inmates of the prison shouted and cheered me on, but Tyrannus ran up a ramp and behind another thick metal door. It slammed shut and locked before I could get to it, and I was once again trapped in the prison.
I walked back to the corridor of cells, and I took the keys off of the belt of one of the dead guards and went about unlocking the cell doors.
Fifty cell doors later, we had fifty prisoners who really wanted to escape, but we knew for sure that Tyrannus would return with a large group of guards, and every one of them would be willing to kill some prisoners.
