I ducked as I ran across the emptry, barren compound to the lowest level of the castle, and ducked through an open window when I arrived. Luke ducked through after me, and we sat crouched in the dark corridor, contemplating a plan.
"I'll scout aroudn to see if there's any lower levels. If I find any I'll check around down there. You check the upper levels." I said quietly.
"What if we come across any guards?" Luke asked. I wanted to limit the loss of life here today, so I thought quickly.
"If they challenge you, fight them, but don't kill unless you have to." I said. We both nodded and went our seperate ways.
I stood and put my back to the wall as I snuck around, pausing only to take my sword from its sheath. I rounded a corner, and there were several guards standing there.
"You two!" I shouted, "Get outside and help the others!"
The two guards ran down the corridor towards the corner I hid behind, and rounded it. I bashed them both on the back of the head with the hilt of my sword, knocking them out cold.
I rounded the corner and started running dow the corridor, and two armed guards came out of a room, saw me and started charging at me with angered expressions on their faces.
One swung high towards me neck, and the other swung low towards me knees. I smirked, and concentrated on flying. I jumped off the ground and flew through the gap presented between their attacks, landing softly on my feet beyond them.
They turned and looked at me with astonished looks on their faces. I smirked, and they nervously took a few steps back before turning and running away. I almost laughed before continueing my run.
I reached the end of the corridor, to find a heavy wooden door bolted shut. I tore the iron bolts completely off the door and kicked the door down.
There was a long spiral staircase that led downwards, and two screaming guards running up at me. I kicked the first one in the face and he fell backwards, only the second one was smart enough to jump over his partner as he tumbled down the stairs.
I shouldered him in the gut and flipped him over my shoulder. He landed hard on his back, and I could hear the wind being knocked from his lungs. I started running down the stairs as fast as I could.
When I reached the bottom, I found a room buzzing with activity. There were six guards around the room, which was a large square, like the rest of the building. There were several wooden tables around, with shiny equipment lying on them, and there were several white robed men, walking to and from a large stone table in the center of the room, on which Kathleen lay.
"Kathleen!" I shouted, ruining the element of surprise. The six guards immediately charged at me, and the three white robed men cowered in fear.
I angrily slashed down at a guard, cutting him open from chest to stomach. He dropped backwards, and I shouted in anger as I beheaded the next one.
The next one actually got off a shot at me, which I blocked. I punched him across the face, putting all of my strength into it, and his neck snapped. He sagged to the ground, and the next one came at me wielding a shimmering sword.
He slashed at me, almost cutting my chest. I blocked the attack and forced his blade down before I booted him in the ribs. I heard several of them break, and he yelped in pain. He dropped his sword, and I shoved him aside. He was no threat anymore.
I sheathed my sword, and grabbed the next to by their necks. I bashed their heads together so hard I heard bone crunch, and I dropped them to the ground.
I concentrated on flying again and flew across the room to the three white robed men cowering in the corner.
"What were you doing?" I shouted, grabbing one by the collar and hoisting up so I could scream in his face. He shivered in fright.
"Put him down Marius." I heard. I turned around to see Edward standing there. I was wearing his old suit of armour, and wielding his steel blade. On his shoulders, instead of his usual red cape, hung a new black one.
"Edward?" I asked, dropping the white robed man to his back.
"That's right Marius. And now I'm going to destroy you." He said, a smirk on his face. He pointed the tip of his sword towards me and laughed.
I gritted my teeth and pulled my sword from its sheath.
