We left the house after that, and she was the happiest woman I've ever seen. She had accepted of course, and had placed the ring on her finger and wore it proudly.
When we returned to The Order's cave, Luke was happy for us, as was Quexos. The other Knights weren't there at the time, they were out finding apprentices of their own, in an attempt to increase the ranks of The Order.
Kathleen and I made preperations. There would be a wedding during which the members of The Order would come, and a more public one, which people we've known over the years could come.
But that was the night we were attacked.
I didn't know who they were, but they had found the cave we called a base and didn't ask any questions before they tried to kill Quexos, as he was the first one they saw when they entered.
I heard Quexos shout my name, and the clash of swords, so I grabbed my blade and rushed out to help him.
They wore long, hooded robes similar to ours, and all bore steel bladed swords with pewter coloured hilts.
When they saw me, they stopped fighting and stripped their robe off, revealing their uniform underneath.
They all wore high black boots like mine, black pants with a black vest. They also had metal gauntlets on. They were all males, and had their hair cropped short.
They resumed fighting, and Kathleen and Luke rushed out with their blades to join me.
There were six of them, one of which fought Quexos, one fought Luke, one fought Kathleen and two attacked me.
One snapped off a low attack, which I jumped backward to avoid. I swung a high attack at his neck, which cut his head from his shoulders.
I turned to his friend, who I thought would be just as unexperienced, but he wasn't.
He snapped off four attacks. One high, one low, and one to my left and right. I blocked the high and low attacks, and the left and right attacks, and swung low at his knees.
He jumped backwards, and I stabbed out at his chest. He leaped backwards, just out of the reach of my blade.
I rushed at him at him to attack him again, and swung my sword towards his gut. He brought his blade down to block my attack, and I punched him across the face with my free hand.
He went reeling backwards. He fell backward onto the ground, onviously not expecting the attack.
"Who are you, and who sent you?!?" I demanded. He gritted his teeth and jumped up and began fighting again.
He swung with both hands at my neck, and I ducked. I brought my blade up into his gut, and he was shocked. Blood dribbled over his chin as he dropped his blade and fell backwards. I pulled my blade from his gut.
I looked at Luke, who blocked every attack from his opponent with his shimmering green bladed sword, and then quickly beheaded him.
Quexos had done the same, and now stood victorious over his enemy.
The one fighting Kathleen pulled a copped coloured sphere from a pocket on his vest, and threw it at the ground, pausing only to cover his eyes.
The sphere cracked on the ground, and a bright white light filled the room. It blinded us all, as we weren't used to the light.
I remember rasing my arm in an attempt to block the light, but it was too bright. I fell backwards and dropped my blade, and when the light and the pain to my head had subsided, I looked around the cave to find Luke and Quexos in a similar state on the ground.
"What happened?" Quexos asked. I looked around, and Kathleen was nowhere to be found.
"They took Kathleen!" I said. I quickly grabbed my sword, wiped it free of blood and placed it into its sheath. I grabbed my black hooded cloak and put it on.
"Where are you going?" Luke asked, wiping his blade free of blood. He put it into its sheath and looked at me.
"I'm going to find her." I said, before leaving the cave.
"Wait! You don't know where they're going!" Quexos called after me. I saw a trail in the dirt and bent down to inspect it.
It looked as though someone ran by, dragging someone behind them.
"I'll have to follow him." I said.
I turned and looked at Luke and Quexos, who now stood in the entrance to the cave.
"Tell the Knights I won't be back for a while." I said quietly. Luke nodded.
"Good luck," He said, "I'll bring the other Knights along when they return. I'm thinking you'll need help when they do."
I nodded quickly. "Thank you my friend."
And that night I ran across the landscape, following the trail that would lead me to Kathleen.
