We marched away from the cave and dusty battlefield soon after, thinking that the creatures would return to fight us once more. We marched for half a day and found another cave that was large enough to house the men. They set up camp and relaxed somewhat, and our scouts were sent out afterwards.
They returned telling us that another horde of the creatures had gone to the cave we had left, and had ransacked it. They returned to their ice cave and were still there at the moment, with the rest of the infestation.
After our scouts had all returned, us Horsemen and the troopers gathered in the cave and thought out a battle plan.
We had only a fraction of the numbers they had, however our troopers were experienced, and we had the Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
"We should go in first." I offered, as we debated ideas.
"And then what?" Pestilence asked.
"We go in first as a vanguard as we usually do, and start sweeping them aside. The troopers will come in quickly as they did in the last battle, with shields and spears up front and strike down hard on the creatures. Us Horsemen will drive through to the heart of their infestation and kill them off as they come, as well as their leader. The troopers will press on through their ranks, and together we'll keep fighting until they are all dead." I explained.
War nodded in agreement.
"I'll go with Marius on this one." Famine said quickly.
"Then it is decided." Death said.
"When do we attack?" I asked, bringing to voice exactly what the troopers were thinking.
"Tomorrow we ride." Death said.
I nodded, and the troopers went back to their encampment. They rested, for many of them feared they would not return home after the conclusion of tomorrow's battle.
I rode out to the entrance of the cave and stood beside Death. War, Pestilence and Famine joined us, and together we stared out at the frozen wasteland beyond.
We, the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, were going to be tomorrow exactly what Death said we were: the hammer of justice, the vessel of deliverance, the bringers of the Apocalypse.
