I charged across the fiery wastelands of hell with the Four Horsemen, and another bright flash consumed us, similar to the one I had experienced before.
We were now galloping across a vast green field, similar to those in the western lands of Dreamland.
"Where are we?" I asked aloud, hoping to get a response from the Horsemen.
They didn't respond, but instead slowed their horses to a trot and eventually came to a stop.
"Where are we and what are we doing?" I asked, demanding an answer from one of them.
"You ask too many questions." War replied.
Pestilence laughed and Death stayed silent. I frowned and became angered, but the other Horsemen ignored me.
"We're here because we are the hammer of justice, the vessel of deliverance. The people of this region need to have justice wrought upon them." Famine said quickly.
I nodded, and the Four Horsemen started galloping towards the small town before us.
I kicked up my horse and charged with them, and we stood on the outskirts of the town, as a small militia came out to oppose us.
"Move aside, or every one of you shall die." War bellowed at the militia.
Most of the men trembled at the sight of us Horsemen, but only a few turned and ran for their lives. Famine chuckled.
The militia advanced, their spears extended in front of them, with few men in the back armed with swords.
"If they do not stand aside, then we shall ride them down." Pestilence said, and kicked his horse into a gallop.
He fired off several arrows with his bow into the militia, hitting several of the armed men in the chest with the arrows. A few more men panicked and ran away.
War drew his claymore and charged towards them, and Famine rode with them.
Death took his time going, but when he did he rode forward with his scythe drawn and swinging.
Pestilence peppered their ranks with arrows, while Death and War slashed through their ranks with their weapons, and Famine rode about, the men around him shrivelling and dying.
I hesitated for a moment to take in the havoc happening before me, and wondered why I was selected for a task such as this.
The Four Horsemen finished off the remnants of the militia, and War rode towards me laughing.
"You were the greatest warrior and general of this land, and you have been granted a spot with the Four Horsemen and you hesitate?" he said while chuckling.
"I am still confused why your master would send me out on a brutish task like this to slaughter innocents." I said.
For the first time since I joined the Four Horsemen, I heard Death speak.
"We are the hammer of justice. We do as we are told, and you should as well. If you wish to pass your tests with us, then you'll have to do as you're told and ride with us. Only then will you be granted permission to leave. If you fail your tests, you'll be the Fifth Horsemen for the rest of time. Judging from your performace tonight, anyone who lived to see you hesitate will more than likely give you a title like 'Life' or something. Imagine that, the Five Horsemen: Famine, Pesitlence, War and Death...and Life." Death said, chuckling towards the end of his small speech.
The Four Horsemen galloped off, and as before I kicked up my horse in an effort to catch up.
