Several days had passed since that battle, and we had found ourself wandering the narrow path through the forest, searching for Cervantes.
I lead our trio through the forest, soon after night had fallen, so we had all night to search before Lestat and I needed to rest.
We walk the winding trail until we come to a large clearing in the forest, thick with fog. I continue to walk through, Lestat and Kendrick following close behind.
I hear a chuckle.
"You guys have come again?" I hear. I recognize the voice. Cervantes.
"Show yourself!" I yell.
He steps through the fog right in front of me. He smirks and pulls a long bladed sword from his belt.
"Now you will all die." He says.
"I don't think so." I say, pulling my katana from its sheath.
Kendrick appears on my right with his staff, and Lestat appears on my left, ready to kick some ass.
Cervantes' eyes dart back and forth to all of us.
"This'll be fun." He says.
"It shall." I say.
Cervantes, swings his blade down at me, and I dodge to the side, his blade becoming embedded in the ground.
Lestat boots him in the side. Cervantes looses his sword and falls onto his side. Kendrick yells his fire summoning spell again, engulfing Cervantes in a ball of fire.
After the bright blaze, and most of the fog fades away, Cervantes charred form stands and shakes itself around, shedding itself of most of the ashes.
He spins towards me, his face a look of twisted evil.
"C'mon!" I shout. He runs towards me and pulls his fist back. He swings his massive fist towards my face, and I catch his blow in my hand.
I found the look of surprise on his face amusing. Using my newfound strength I pitch him backward.
He lands and rolls. Before he rolls too far, he stops himself and stares at me with a look of surprise.
I pull Vincent's triple barrelled handgun from its holster and aim it at Cervantes. I fired off several shots, hitting him in the shoulder and the neck.
The shoulder shot hits him right on the joint, disabling the arm. Blood spurts and flows from the wound, flowing down his arm, and soaking his garments around the wound.
The shot to the neck hit him right in the throat. He covered the wound with his hand as he tried to stand and speak.
"Bastard!" I hear.
I smirk and aim a shot at his face.
"See you in hell." I say.
I pull the trigger, and the shot hits him right in the face. Bright red blood coats his pale face as he falls backwards, his shoulder still flowing with blood, as his throat, and his face. His bloody hand fell backwards as he fell, and the blood he was losing slowly soaked into the ground.
It was over. The land was freed from the iron fist of the monster Cervantes. But it came at the cost of Vincent's and my own life.
"We did it. We killed the monster." Kendrick says, dropping to one knee and saying a silent prayer to his gods.
Lestat turns and starts to walk away.
"Where are you going?" I ask him. He stops, and turns towards me.
"Somewhere. I have a thirst, and I need to quench it." He says.
"Will I see you again my friend?" I ask. He gives me a quick smirk before he turns around.
"Oh I'm sure our paths will cross again in the future." He says before he walks into the darkness surrounding the clearing.
I turn back to Kendrick, who stands.
"Celebration will follow when we return to my people in the caves." He says with a smile.
I lightly smile back. I take Vincent's gun and put it back into it's holster. I put my katana back into its sheath.
"Then let us go." Kendrick says before he starts walking.
I take one more glance back at Cervantes' corpse before I follow him.
