Inekwar woke sometime later, just before dawn. He shook his head violently, and looked around, trying to remember where he was.
"You've been out for quite a while." I said. His gaze darted to me.
"You're still here?" he asked.
"Of course. I'm your father. I wouldn't leave my son lying unconscious in the forest in the middle of nowhere." I said.
Inekwar nodded and sat up straight.
"So they sent you to find me?" he asked.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I figured if I snooped around, asking about the Horsemen long enough, they'd send one of their own after me." he said.
"You're the one they sent me to silence?" I said to myself.
"What?" Inekwar asked.
"They sent me to find a human who had been snooping around asking questions about them. They told me to silence you." I said.
"They want you to kill me?" he replied.
"I don't kill innocents. They just wanted me to get you to stop snooping around." I replied.
Inekwar nodded.
"Now kill him!" I heard, and my gaze darted down the trail through the forest to the leader of the Four Horsemen, who stood with the Horsemen behind him.
"What do you want?" I rasped.
"To kill him!" the man said angrily.
"You led us right to him." Pestilence said.
I gritted my teeth in anger.
"You won't touch him." I said, my hand coming to rest on the hilt of my sword.
War laughed. "Do you think a lone Horseman can stop us?"
"I won't let you harm my son! I shouted.
Famine laughed. "Just try and stop us."
"I will." I said, pulling my sword from its sheath. The Four Horsemen dismounted their steeds, and drew ther weapons. They started walking towards me and Inekwar, who started shivering in fear.
"Dad? What now?" he said.
"Run. I'll meet up with you soon." I said.
Inekwar ran, and War tried to attack him first.
I swung my sword down on War's claymore, and shoved it into the ground. War clenched a fist and backhanded me across the face with it.
I fell, but stood quickly as War tried to free he blade.
Pestilence put an arrow on his bow and fired it at me. Using the reflexes and powers I had gained as a Horseman, I slashed the arrow from the air as it flew at me.
"Nice block." Pestilence commented.
Death swung his scythe at me, and I blocked the attack with a good two handed attack. The blade of the scythe hooked around my sword, and with a quick tug, Death wrenched the blade from my hands.
"Don't make me destroy you." Death said.
I gritted my teeth.
I was weaponless, with the Four Horsemen angry at me.
