We rode early the next morning, and when we reached their ice cave we were astounded by its construction. There was a large bowl formation of ice in the landscape, above which was a large icy tripod, formed of huge jagged shards of ice.
The creatures were all centralized in the bowl underneath the tripod, but the giant shards of ice were also coated in the creatures.
We did exactly as we planned.
Us Horsemen charged forward ahead of the men, determined to break through their infestation and kill them all. The troopers formed up behind the shield wall, with their spears forward and charged in behind us. They were also determined to fight off the creatures, wo we charged forward together.
They came at us Horsemen first. We swept through them with ease.
War gripped his claymore tightly in both of his hands and swung the claymore about him, cutting and slashing into dust the creatures stupid enough to come near him. A black cloud of dust surrounded War as he rode, and he continued to charge forward.
Pestilence fired off arrows as fast as he had before, which shot straight and level into the creatures' faces. They burst into dust as they died, and Pestilence cleared a thick path for himself through the ranks of the creatures as he went.
Famine also cleared a path through the creatures as he went, and the creatures who were stupid enough to attack him burst into dust as they drew within a few meters of his horse.
Death amazed me as he did before, gripping his scythe in both hands and slashing down any of the creatures they came before him as he charged. A large black cloud surrounded Death as well, but I knew he was enjoying it.
I swung my sword about as well, feeling the impacts of the creatures on my steel blade as we ran. The creatures that didn't die under the steel of my blade were trampled down by my horse, as it was with the other Horsemen.
Pestilence stopped and started firing arrows up at the creatures climbing on the tripod of ice shards, and hit all of them. They burst into black dust, and the dust fell around us as we continued to charge through the creatures.
War kicked up his horse as fast as it would go, and contined to cut and slash his way through the horde of creatures. Famine joined War and they creatued a huge path through the creatures, which our troopers filled.
They charged in shields first and smashed through the creatures. The creatures quickly attacked the troopers from both sides, and the fighting became fierce around the troopers as the swordsmen hacked down the creatures that came near them, and the creatures managed to kill off some of the swordsmen.
The troopers reached the bowl of ice after we did, and we gathered our forces into a huge huddle of shields and spears.
"This is a good hold point." War said, shouting it out as he continued to hack down the creatures as they came screaming at us.
"Then we'll hold here!" Deaths houted back at War.
The troopers arranged themselves into a circular formation of shields and spears, and they held their ground in the very bottom of the bowl.
The creatures came down at them like a massive black tide, but they held their ground, no one daring to turn and run. Some of the creatures leapt over the wall of shields and landed amongst the swordsmen, and the swordsmen eagerly hacked them all down as they leapt in.
War, Famine, Pestilcne, Death and I all took up positions around the circle of shields, and we pushed out into the oncoming creatures, hacking them all down as they came at us.
I swung my sword like a wildman, as did War and Death. Pestilence fired arrows up into the oncoming tide, and picked off any of the creatures who were stupid enough to run at him.
Famine simply stood, and the creatures who tried to attack him burst into dust.
We were doing alright, but I wondered how long we'd be able to hold out.
