I followed the guard back to his post from a distance, but the post wasn’t in the town I had fled before I had joined the order, it was far away, and just looked like a small outpost.
I walked through the darkness towards the small outpost, and I heard voices approaching me. I crouched in several large bushes, where I could see the approaching patrol, but they could not see me.
They passed right by the bushes I was hiding, chatting about what their plans after work were. I tuned their voices out after a while, and stepped out from behind the bushes.
Still crouched, I scurried across a large clearing, to a small door on the side of the outpost. Several torches burned brightly along the tall wooden wall, and I pulled them off and stomped them out.
I broke the lock on the door with my fist and slowly pushed it open. Once open, I snuck across a courtyard to a building located in the center of the outpost.
Two guards on either side of the door noticed me running towards them, and one ran inside and locked the door. I pulled out my katana and rushed the second one.
He swung his sword at me and missed, and I sliced his gut open with my katana. His guts and innards spilled out into the dirt as I showed his body aside. I smashed the door in, and several guards ran down the hall towards me, yelling and holding spears.
I smirked and ran out the door. As they closed in on it, I slammed it shut, and their spears became stuck in the door. I thrust the door open, and the group of ten guards stood there staring at me.
“Boo.†I said, a slight smile rising to my face. They turned and ran down the hall screaming. I took Vincent’s gun out of its holster and picked them off as they fled. I put the gun back into its holster and continued walking through the narrows halls of the outpost.
I walked towards a closed door and shoved it open. Several guards ran at me once I was inside. I sliced the first one open as he rushed at me, and beheaded the second one as he charged at me as well. The third one stopped and swung his sword at me. I stopped his attack with the blade of my katana and then gave him a swift uppercut to the jaw with my other hand.
He flew across the room and nailed the far wall. He slid down the wall and slumped against it when he reached the floor.
There was a large circular table in the center of the room with several large map sheets on it. I walked towards the table and looked over the maps.
One displayed the plan of attack when the army of guards attacked the grove that my order called home, and another one showed a plan of defense if an outpost of the main castle were ever attacked. The last one displayed the entire region, showing the location of every outpost, and where the main castle of the guard stood. I looked over the maps, and placed the one showing the locations of all the outposts and the main castle within my trench coat.
I scratched an itch on my unshaven chin and shook my shaggy hair about, clearing my head for a moment.
They were trying to hunt me down, but with the map I had just stolen, I would bring the fight to their front door, and eradicate the threat.
I put my katana back into its sheath, and walk over to several small candles burning across the room. I found a cask of alcohol sitting on another table, which I poured everywhere. I tossed the burning candles onto the alcohol, which ignited immediately.
Before the light hurt my eyes, I walked out of the room and out of the outpost. The whole building slowly caught fire as I walked out of it and away from it. I clenched my fists as I continued walking.
Only seven more outposts to destroy before I took the head of the operation: the main castle of the guard.
