I walk along the rainy streets alone. My love has left me, and I look down at the sword at my side, contemplating killing myself. My black armour feels soothing now, and it makes me almost invisible in the darkness of the night.
My black cape billows behind me as a gust of wind picks it up. I walk towards the battlefield on which was fought the great war of Dreamland and stand on it for a few minutes.
"Is this my only purpose? To fight and kill and to lead others to their deaths?" I ask myself, not knowing there was anyone behind me.
"I'm sure life isn't that bad." I hear, and I turn to see the man my love left me for.
"What do you want?" I ask, a slight growl in my voice.
"We used to be friends once...what happened to you?" He asks, taking a step towards me. I clench my fists, and he stops his motion towards me.
"What do you think happened?" I ask him, quite angry at his presence here.
"You're angry at me because you're love left you for me?" He asks, looking surprised.
"Of course you dolt. I loved her with all my heart...and she left me for you. I should kill you where you stand." I say, turning my back towards him.
He places a hand on my shoulder, trying to comfort me, and I bring my sword out, spin around and slam it through his gut. Blood spurts from the wound and he tries to say something, but his words are choked out as his blood fills his throat and mouth.
I pull my sword from the wound and wipe it off on his own shirt. I put my sword back into it's sheath and I suddenly realize what I'd done. I had just killed a man, and the penalty for doing so was death, not matter what title you held.
I walk quickly from the scene, and nobody sees me as I slip into the darkness surrounding the town.
I walk towards my home and walk inside. I go to my room and prepare what needs to be prepared. I pack a few items of food into a small cloth bag and ready my sword. If anyone finds out what I'd done, I'd have to fight my way out of town, and keep fighting until I was free.
I hear a woman scream and I run to the window. I see the town guard running into the darkness around the battlefield and several more guards run towards there as well. They carry the body back to his home and I hear screaming and sobbing.
I hear a loud knock on my door, and a guard shouting my name. I walk towards the door and open it. A guard looks at me and asks if I know anything about the murder. I say I don't, and he steps out of the way, to reveal my former love standing there crying.
"They killed him!" she exclaims, and then she runs towards me and hugs me, her tears running down the breastplate of my armour.
"Shhh..." I say, and she takes a step back, looking at me with the look she gave me before we had fallen for each other. I take a step back as well and turn my back on her.
"I still have feelings for you..." she says quietly. I turn my head slightly and then look at the ground.
"I cannot return the love you have." I say, turning back towards her. She looks as though she will cry more and then she turnes and runs from my home, crying and sobbing.
I look at thr ground, feeling somewhat bad for what I'd done. But a guard runs into my home and stands before me, his weapon drawn.
"You killed that man!" he exclaims, and stabs his sword out towards me. I dodge the blow, my darkness and anger rushing back to me. I pull out my sword and with one clean swipe, take off the man's head.
I quickly run upstairs, and grab my small bag of food. I run back downstairs and see a few more guards standing near my door. I take a dagger out of my boot and throw it at one of them, hitting him in the face. I take my sword and quickly take off the second one's head with one swift motion.
I take my dagger back, wipe it off on the man's cloak, put it back in my boot, and wipe my sword off on the second one's clock and put it back into it's sheath.
I run out the door and hear the shouts of a few guards, and see a few of them running up the street towards me. My former love stands in front of them, a look of horror on her face.
She mouths "you killed him" and then her face becomes one of anger.
I look away and try to find a way to escape. I see a black horse sitting near the edge of the town and run towards it as fast as I can. I jump onto the saddle and take off into the dark forest surrounding the town.
I know that they ill not stop hunting me, and my former love will probably join them as they try to kill me now. I kick the horse faster and we lose the guards, but I must keep riding.
They will not stop until I die.
